We don’t have a government. We have a bunch of pissed off toddlers throwing a goddamned tantrum for not getting their way in the grocery store.
I’m angry. I am so disgusted and disappointed in and ashamed of our elected officials that I can’t even describe it. And the most infuriating part of it all? Sure they’ll shut down the government to try to bully people into doing what they want, but are THEY going without pay? Fuck no. Of course not.
There has got to be a way we can make it for every single day the government is shut down, that these elected government titty-babies will go without getting paid. If they expect the forest rangers who only make $25,000 a year to go without, then their spoiled asses should be willing to do the same.
Sadly, that should tell you EVERYTHING you need to know. They don’t believe in this. They HAVE to try to kill the Affordable Care Act before Americans actually realize how beneficial it will be. Once Americans experience the benefits, they will never want to give them up. Especially parents who have children born with a chronic or terminal illnesses. They can get affordable insurance and get their kids the healthcare and treatment they require to continue living. If you call yourself ProLife, then you have no business even thinking of being against this.
Yes. I realize that is a divisive statement. I’m okay with that because it’s true. If you care about life, then you should WANT these kids to have every access to every treatment available. Period. The End.
Here’s my biggest problem with the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) (which, is supposed to e negative but all I see is Obama Cares) the rhetoric and propaganda that is flying around the web. People are latching on to it without doing any unbiased research on their own. They’re asking people on Facebook to explain it to them and getting biased answers on both sides. They don’t want to know the answers, they just want someone to answer in a way they lean politically so they can feel superior and justified in their ignorance.
So here’s your chance to do a little digging on your own.

Also, please remember that FactCheck.org and Snopes.com are also politically unbiased and have answered EVERY single question and addressed every falsehood known to man about Obamacare.
Don’t get me wrong, I lean left. I always have. But when it comes to something like this, I research like it’s my job. Is the ACA perfect? No. But it will help levelize the price gouging that hospitals do to help offset the cost of the uninsured. It will force the insurance companies to hold up their end of the deal and pay instead of arbitrarily denying even routine visits.
When healthcare and insurance gets back to being about healthcare…and not the almighty dollar, then we will see a huge shift. Right now, the insurance companies are fighting with every penny of last year’s $12.5 million profit to make the ACA go away. Why? Because they may only make $5M this year. Oh. No.
The worst part about all of this? Our Congress has spent more of the tax-payers’dollars attempting to repeal the ACA 42 times and now shutting down the government than would EVER have been spent on healthcare reform. That’s a shame and a fucking crime.
Take their pay away, and we will see very quickly how committed they are to shutting Obamacare down. I guarantee you, there will be so much compromise so fast, that we’d all get whiplash.
Even if my costs go up somehow, I still would rather see my tax dollars go toward the health of Americans than to paying for wars that are based on lies. Healthcare should be an American Right, not a privilege.

There has got to be a reform measure that says if there is ever another gov’t shut down, then Congress and the Pres. go unpaid until it is resolved. They can work for free until a compromise is made.
I can’t even get in the HL thing. You know, he has every right to be a bigot. He can sell whatever he wants to whomever he wants or doesn’t want…just like Chick-fil-a, I can boycott them because they don’t represent AMERICA. You know, the melting pot of people, religions, races…

Don’t give food, but teach them to hunt. Don’t care, but teach them to take care themselves. If you leave self-care, and begin to depend on somebody else, on a promise from a politician in particular… It’s the first step towards hell…

Well, I’m not sure that follows in line with Jesus’s teachings (if that’s what you follow) because he was all about feeding the hungry, healing the sick and wounded.
Affordable Care is not giving anything away. It’s making healthcare available to all Americans as it should be.

No, it’s my teachings. 🙂 I only meant, that much better to depend on yourself, than on sbdy else, especially not on politicians. In my country, the idea of self-care is absolutely cleared from the heads, and all the people relies on the government aids, like it would be mandatory. They even tolerated, that the government stole their private pensions, in exchage for a faint promise. If masses will start to realise that no efforts are necessary to stay on foot, ’cause sbdy always will be there, to lift you up, it’s a catastrophy. There’s several example, all over the world. I’m afraid that Obamacare is the first step on this way.

I can not truthfully sit here and say that I have NEVER needed help from anyone in my life and neither can ANYONE else who is breathing! We ALL need help from time to time! Affordable health care is NOT the equal to not taking care of yourself. Any normal person who wants to eat regularly cant survive on our current minimum wage. They sure cant afford health care so they are not worthy of getting health care or even HELP??? If they are working and trying we are going to hell for trying to help them???????

I agree. It is MUCH better to depend on yourself. The problem is in this country, many children cannot take care of themselves and their parents aren’t really able to help. and with this act, these children will be eligible for the help so they can become healthy, independent adults.

You may already know from my rants that you’re preaching to the choir here. I have healthcare but dammit everyone should have it. And it is better for everyone. Let people pay what they can afford. Wilk there be abuse? There always is. But we already pay for those who don’t have insurance. Helathcare in general is prohibitively expensive for the average American. And insurance companies should not be allowed to insure only the healthy. Duh. And the Repubs just want to block this so that people WON’T see that it is best for the people and then they can continue their fear tactics. If the AHA is successful that means more dems in Congress. And one last GD thing. Who the hell pays for the Cadillac insurance our representatives currently enjoy??!!! Sorry for any typos, I’m writing this on my ridiculously small phone!

Here’s the thing that KILLS me…all these people with insurance are checking prices to see what it would cost them through the healthcare exchange and then being all “SEE IT’S MORE EXPENSIVE AND NOT AFFORDABLE AT ALL.” Except, many of these idiots make too much money and don’t qualify for the subsidies…but damn, they’d have to make quite a bit of money to not qualify for any…seriously? If you’re bitching because in a theoretical world, your insurance on 2 adults and 2 kids and make over $90,000 would be super expensive and that proves this sucks? Then you’re an even bigger idiot than I thought.
