quick update

I just used the lotion from my hotel room.

Yes, my skin is baby’s bottom soft–but now I smell like my great-grandma.

BTW–I met Jude who put together the Blogging National blog. She was lovely and took a picture of me, Maria, and Kate. Look for it!

RWA: it has begun

Maria had to rise at the ass-crack of dawn to go to the Beaumonde workshop. My festivities don’t begin until later today, which is a good thing. I was up a little late last night…

The TKA party was last night. My lovely agency chartered a couple of buses and drove us the hour+ to picturesque Madison, GA to attend the soiree.

The sidewalk leading to the office was lined with mason jars containing tea-lights. It was the most charming thing I’ve ever seen. We walk around to the back of the Craftsman styled home to be greeted by Lauraine Snelling. I’m not sure she meant to be the greeter, but she greeted us.

We were serenaded by guitar while we snacked on very southern food. Cheese grits, hush puppies made fresh right in front of you, little bar-b-que sandwiches, and freshly made pralines. The food was to die for.
Of course, I just wanted to pull a chair up in front of the grits and shovel them in my mouth while the hush puppy lady kept me supplied. Diet? What diet?

Monica Burns, Maria Geraci, and Me.Here, Elaine Spencer dreams of her great success as a new TKA agent with TKA client Andrea Wilder. (Funny story about Andrea, she was one of the first few people I ever met outside my circle of friends. Pam Trader and I met her at the NJ Conference 4 years ago and now she’s a fellow TKA sista!)
Me and the fabulous Marley Gibson. Okay, I’m laughing now. That’s Marley and Me. (It’s a book title…work with me)

And last but NEVER least, Deidre and me.

goody bags…

We stuffed goody bags until we had calluses this morning.

There are 18 books per bag. (or should be. Some bag stuffers were “stuffer-challenged”)

We’re headed down to register in just a minute. The bee-hive is beginning to buzz. Sunday and Monday were quiet days but this morning, the thrum of Romance writers began to sound.

I have full blown cold and have been miserable for the last two days. It’s getting better, slowly but surely. Thank God for Maria Geraci. Nurse Maria has made everything all right.

I met The Blogless One, finally. We had a great couple of days of bonding.

Tomorrow, I hope to have pictures from the TKA party. I’m gonna be awful damn cute in polka dots.
