Survivor — play by play

Rafe won immunity and I’m glad. I was pulling for him or Danni.

7:55 pm: Who is Stephenie kidding? She thinks she and Rafe have played a similar game?

7:57 pm: I am so disappointed they’ve taken the chicken off the fire. They should be ashamed. Good fo you Rafe, not eating the chicken. Lydia, of everyone, I thought you of all the members would respect the tradition of the sacrifice. (there was a Mayan ritual performed at the temple and part of that ritual was the sacrifice of a live chicken. the natives told them they could NOT eat the chicken)

8:00 pm: First tribal council and Rafe has immunity. Lydia was lobbying to be kept. Stephenie thinks she’s safe. Will Rafe keep his word and take Danni with him?

Judd was rolling his eyes when Lydia was talking about eating the chicken. You know what, you shouldn’t have eaten the chicken. Such a total lack of respect.

8:05 pm: Goodbye Lydia. Of course, It hink they should’ve gotten rid of Stephenie first…she’s a much bigger physical threat–but at least now it’s a competition for the final two. Please by all that holy to survivor, Please let it be Danni and Rafe.

8:31 pm: Hahahaha. Stephie couldn’t hold it together to win the immunity idol. I was really glad to see Danni win it. And then Rafe. My darling, good, sweet, Rafe…he stepped up and released Danni of any promise to take him to the final two. Such a sweet gesture–possibly a stupid one–but sweet nonetheless. He’s probably the most honest, straightforward, LIKEABLE player Survivor has had in a long time.

Now it’s up to Danni. Who’s she gonna take? To win, she should take Stephenie…but because of honor, she should take Rafe. Such a tough decision. I’d hate to be her.

8:44 pm: Wow. I really thought she’d take Rafe. I know she wouldn’t have won against him but I thought she’d “colby up” and take the person she promised–though, I have to say, releasing her of that promise was almost as manipulative as Stephenie’s breakdown after the immunity challenge. (I know she was tired. I know her back was hurting. I know she was disappointed. But Stephenie doesn’t do anything that doesn’t help her toward a goal.) If Stephenie wins, I’ll be surprised and VERY disappointed.

Rafe vows he’ll vote for Stephenie because he thought Danni was the one person who would take him to the final two. Hmm, methinks you shouldn’t have released her from her promise, then Rafey boy. That left a sour taste in my mouth. Honestly, I hate people who say one thing and mean another. If you wanted Danni to take you to the final two, you should’ve held her to her promise. Guess what? She would’ve taken you.

9:15 pm: Wow. Dudd is out of his mind. He actually asked Danni if she had ever ice skated or roller bladed in her life. At first, I thought he was being witty. (I should’ve known better, I know) When Danni answered yes, he said, “That seemed to be your strategy–to skate on by in this game.”

Whoa dude. Seriously, Danni kicked your ass at every turn. Don’t be a Sammy Sore-Loser because she beat you.

And I was waiting on it–his little hissy fit with Stephenie. You know, I didn’t want her there either, but frankly, the only reason Dudd is pissed is because he didn’t play the game.

OUTWIT, OUTLAST, OUTPLAY.

Dudd, none of those words describe you. (especially the wit part)

I’m afraid to admit it, but Steph might have a good chance at winning the money. I really hope she hasn’t managed to manipulate the jury. It’s Outwit, Outlast, Outplay–not MANIPULATE, MANIPULATE, AND WHINE.

9:28 PM: The Survivor Gods have made me very happy! Congrats to Danni Boatright!

This is one season I’m definitely not disappointed in!

  1. Sorry, Mel, gotta disagree with you. Rafe and Steph DID play the same game. He played it nicer and without being in anyone’s face about it, and he also did it without being a “leader” (hate that term, but you know what I mean). But when push came to shove, he had the exact same alliances as Steph and he screwed them over just like she did. The only difference is that she was more obvious in her alliances, whereas he was more quiet about it. God bless ‘im, I think he deserved more, but Danni made the right choice by kicking him out. It’s hard to say who would have won, if it’d been her and Rafe in the final two, because people didn’t view Rafe in the same light as they did Steph.

I didn’t like Steph’s whining about being on a loser team again – suck it up, honey! But she played hard. She did what was best for her to get her to the final 2 – and who ever thought she’d make it that far? I bet it shocked the hell out of her, too! ha ha And even though I won the bet I had going with the boys, it wasn’t because I wanted to choose Danni to win, it was because she was the only one the boys didn’t choose.

Still think Judd’s an idiot. šŸ™‚ Bring on Panama again!! I think they should do a Survivor Canada. Bring them people up here to the arctic and let them survive in the cold, with the polar bears and the ravens – then we’ll see who’s tough! Of course, that wouldn’t make for good TV ratings, cuz they couldn’t strut their contestants around half-naked or things’ll start falling off. eeeewwwwwww

What will we do with our Thursday nights now???

  2. Laura, Laura, Laura…

Sorry babe. They didn’t play the same game. If you don’t believe me, then look at the reactions on the face of the jury when Stephenie said that. They were all like, No Way. And that’s why Stephenie only got 1 vote.

If you look at past Survivors, there is always one person who gets blindsided by someone they trust. So, it’s expected that everyone one will betray 1 big alliance.

How many did Stephanie betray? Jamie, Judd, Gary, Lydia—should I go on?

Rafe betrayed? Gary and Jamie. (but honestly, Jamie probably shouldn’t count for either of them)

Even last night night, when Steph said, “I’m pushing for just me and you in the finals,” he didn’t commit to that.

But the biggest betrayal of all was Judd for Stephenie. It’s not that I didn’t expect her to do it at one point, it’s the way she did it. He took her on the overnight trip. She cozied up to his wife and promised them they were cool…and then the next night, jammed the knife in his back.

That was definitely not the same game Rafe played.

Either way, I’m glad Danni won!

  3. I know you’re gonna throw stuff at me but I honestly wanted Steph to win. Seriously. I konw she whined a lot and made some of the not-best decisions ever but I still liked her a lot and thought she played damn hard. She didn’t “skate” by or ride the coattails. She played, fair and square. Now I really don’t agree with Judd’s comment to Danni that she skated by…I think she played a great game and deserved to be there also. But I do think that Steph outplayed, outlasted and I think she also outwitted…I’m not agreeing with the choices she made, i.e. Judd and Cindy, but those choices had to be made. I think that they could have been a little more well-timed, i.e. not right after both of them took her on reward challenge but it is a game and it is survivor. I was surprised no one was really upset about Gary lying about being an NFL player…or did I miss it? And did they show who everyone voted for? Was Rafe the only one who voted for Steph???

  4. I’m not gonna throw stuff at you…I do think she played hard. And, when Rafe pulled that “I release you of your promise” BS…I realized that Stephenie really wanted it more than Rafe.

But I don’t think she deserved to win. Danni had her number and called it in when she was able to convince her to vote Judd off. That one move made Danni the superior player. She used her head and it worked out to her benefit.

Steph redeemed herself last night at the Reunion show. I was glad to see her. And yes, she only got one vote–otherwise they would’ve dragged out the votes. (and her only getting one vote should tell you something…) šŸ™‚

  5. I really think it says a lot about Danni that she was the only one left from the previous tribe to last….and not only that, to win a million bucks. steph and cindy, i think, were talking on the reward challenge that it would suck to have had the numbers the entire time after the merge to let her win and that’s exactly what they did. if they wanted to dominate then they should have gotten danni out after gary. plain and simple. i agree that danni definitely made a smart move on her part to talk to steph and convince her and rafe to vote judd out…i really would have rather seen cindy in the final four rather than lydia though. lydia was never a competitor at anything. That’s where I think they messed up…if Steph, Danni and Rafe wanted it to be a tight competition and wanted to be up against the best they should have at least kept cindy isntead of lydia….i think it was crappy they did that to cindy and i really don’t blame her for taking the car.
