What do you get…

When you mix Keanu Reeves, Gene Hackman, and football?

One of my favorite movies ever.

The Replacements was the most underrated movie of 2000, in my not so humble opinion. It’s the perfect movie. It has sports, romance, strippers, and Keanu Reeves.

Oh. And Jon Favreau, Gene Hackman, Faizon Love, Orlando Jones and a “Wiry” little Welsh actor named Rhys Ifans who makes me laugh every time he opens his mouth.

My husband finally managed to track down a DVD for me. (True love, right there) Anyway, I’ve probably seen this movie 10 times and I STILL laugh out loud when I watch it. (As witnessed yesterday afternoon)

I truly LOVE this movie.

Maybe I’ll watch it again today…after I watch Sixteen Candles for the umpteenth time. 🙂

  1. And David Denman (the deaf tight end) who also played Skip the Demon on “Angel.”

And of course, I love Rhys Ifans from “Notting Hill” as well.

Why yes, I’ve seen this movie– why do you ask? Bring it with you to Nat’ls and we’ll have a Replacements watching party in one of our rooms or something. We can to the Electric Slide to “I Will Survive.”

BTW– it’s all your fault. (Go read today’s entry on my blog) It’s allllll your fault

  2. You’re so right, Mel – it’s definitely underrated. DH and I LOVE that movie!!
Every once in a while, DH looks at me and say, “At first… I was afraid. Man, I was petrified,” and we both crack up.

  4. you know i never watched that movie b/c i heard it was awful…i may have to check it out just to double check. another underrated movie that i saw this weekend… Love Actually…I’ve seen it several times and it makes me laugh out loud and cry all at the same time. For whatever reason, it didn’t get a lot of great reviews and it wasn’t marketed that great but it’s a fan-freakin-tastic movie. “Hostel” on the other hand….*shudders*…not so much…

  5. Love Keanu Reeves! And I like Gene Hackman too.

In Notting Hill, Rhys Ifans tries on crude t-shirts with sayings on the back, and he thinks he knows of a more appropriate shirt and tells Hugh Grant, “Wait for it.” My daughter (age 10) watched the movie and now says in a Brit/Welsh accent, “Wait for it,” then, er, farts. I try not to laugh, but it cracks me up every time! 🙂

  6. New post coming today–I promise guys.

But, I really hate the idea of replacing The Replacements. I love Keanu.

    “At first I was afraid.”

    “Afraid?”

    “That’s right. I was PETRIFIED!”

  7. Go on now go
    walk out the door
    Just turn around now
    cuz you’re not welcome anymore
Weren’t you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
    Did ya think I’d crumble
did ya think I’d lay down and die
    Oh no not I,
    I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love
    I know I’ll stay alive
I’ve got all my life to live
I’ve got all my love to give
    I’ll survive, I will survie
    hey hey

Oh yeah, baby – that’s one of the best movies ever! Loved it!
