You know, I really don’t expect everyone to have the same taste in music or books or whatever that I do. It would be a very boring world if we all liked the same things.
That said…
I’m done with American Idol.
Of the final 4, Chris Daughtry was the best, most consistent performer. I have nothing against the other 3…I actually like them all for different reasons. BUT, none of them are of the same caliber as Chris. Period.
So, now that it is official AI is a popularity contest based on personality and has nothing to do with popularity due to perfomance, I’m done.
Am I pouting? Yeah. I am. But I don’t care. Only old and boring people don’t like Chris. And those are the exact same people who voted for Clay Aiken back in the day. And he was the wrong person for AI, just like Elliot is. Elliot is a great singer–so was Clay–but they aren’t the next big “Pop Star”. I think Old People should not be allowed to vote. (btw: being “Old” has nothing to do with age. I know people younger than me who are old bitties.)
Anyway. I’m done.

He’s a killer rocker. The only thing I know for a fact is he’s going to get one hell of a record deal, even without American Idol.
I’m still pissed as hell though because he was THE best on that show.
And I can’t believe Kat is still on there. Bleh.

But isn’t being a Pop Star all about personality and not necessarily talent?? Britany Spears? moderate talent but knows how to make herself known. There are more I can see in my head but not name cuz I’m really lousy at names. I know it bites when talent is overrun by snap, crackle and pop.

Mel, if it’s any consolation, won’t he be able now to avoid the sort of type-casting and stereotyping that follows an AI winner? There are bound to be loads of people who feel like you guys do…and now he can go in any direction he wants.

This is the first time I’ve watched AI and I’ve only been following it in the past few weeks, but I was pretty stunned to see Chris go. I really thought he’d make it to the final 2. But, I have to wonder if Jan isn’t right about it being better for him. He’s got a great voice and style and hopefully, he’ll get a better deal than he might have gotten with the AI stigma.

This is my thought and you can take it and toss it out if you like, but. . . I honestly believe this is the best thing for Chris. He’ll have the option of what he does next. The winner of AI is blood bound to AI for as long as they say. And Chris has already been offered to lead the band Fuel. He’ll be around for awhile to come and not just flash out as a fad.

i gree and disagree, chris was the best one the show and it probably will be better for him in the long run, but i also believe that he never should have been sent home b/c he was the best. i think kat is awsome and should have been the runner up. and i also believe that it is a popularity contest that should be about america deciding over the weeks who is the most talented not the funniest or who has the most personality. i believe that taylor will win b/c of his personality not his talent and i will be ticked about that but after all it has already happened twice, first with the velvet teddy bear crap being so popular and u never hear anything from him and fantasia with all her soul that people loved so much and u never hear anything from her. u do however hear about kelly and carrie b/c they have talent and when taylor wins he will fade away into the background just like fantasia and reuben did b/c u can’t see personality through the radio. i agree that elliot isn’t the ai choice b/c he isn’t the right type of artist but i do belive that he is great and that he should go somewhere. this thing with chris, i believe will stir up some heat and he will be known as the one who never should have went home. i don’t believe that people who are just tuning in should vote b/c they haven’t seen enough but are making decisions based on how well the liked that one prefomance.
