yeah, yeah, it’s kinda late for a blog…

but I don’t care.

You know why I love the 80s? (besides the fact that they had the most wicked hairstyles (that should never return) and awesome music? I loved the 80s for the movies.

Right now, I’m watching Harry and the Hendersons. Who doesn’t love this movie?
And what about Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink? (Hell, I should just say Molly Ringwald…)
And need I remind you of Dirty Dancing? (Still my favorite movie EVER! yes, and I mean EVER!)
And last but certainly not least…John Cusack movies. Sigh.

So, all you 80s naysayers, I implore you to watch one of these movies and tell me the 80s weren’t awesome. Cuz they were. And if you don’t think so, well, you’re just not my friend anymore.

ptttthhhhhhhhh.

  1. I’m so with you on the John Cusack movies. The Sure Thing was on the other night.

Which one is your fav? I have to go for Say Anything…but if I can get into the 90’s it’s Grosse Point Blank.

  2. Hands down, without a doubt, my favorite John Cusack movie is: Better Off Dead.

Besides its sheer genius campy style, it was just the perfect movie. I watch it once a month and still quote from it.

    I know. I’m sad.

  3. Great taste in movies, girl! I ought to make my 17 yo daughter sit through some of those. She already adores Dirty Dancing, so the others should rank right up there, too. And then I could take a trip down memory lane!

  4. My Tootz also loves Better off Dead…isn’t that the one with the evil newspaper boy and the mother cooking the strange food (I remember one that was mainly goo).

  5. The E True Hollywood Story on the making of Dirty Dancing was on cable this weekend. It was fascinating- catch it if you can- you know it will be re-run forever. Great flick (how 80s is that expression?)

  6. OH MY FREAKIN’ GOODNESS.

I thought I was the only one who adored Better Off Dead. I can quote much of that movie. It’s genius. Comedic perfection.

How can you not love a movie in which David Ogden Stiers dons a reindeer coat? SO many classic moments…

Can I just geek out for a moment? I once exchanged tv dinners with my high school friends for Christmas just because we thought it would be funny.

I am a sad, sad woman.

  7. Okay, my turn to geek out.

I can’t go a week without quoting that movie.

And I can barely go a day without seeing something that makes me laugh because it reminds me of the movie….

And honestly, I will never understand how you couldn’t love a movie that has John Cusack, a muscle car (one that I will own one day), a woman who drinks mason jar full of feul, and a psycho paper boy.

And we can’t forget “the international language…”
