Last night, I watched two fabulous 80s movies with my kids.
The Princess Bride just sucks you in, no matter what. I love that my boys will watch this movie with me every time it comes on. Their only complaint is that the R.U.S. (rodents of unusual size) look fake. Well, we can hardly fault them for that. They grew up in the age of realism on the movie screen.
Then, instead of watching that awards show, we flipped the station to find Wildcats. Okay, this is not a fabulous movie, but it brings back fun memories. Goldie Hawn is a football coach for an inner city school. I had forgotten who else was in this movie. Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes, LL Cool J makes an appearance, Nipsy Russel, Jan Hooks, Swoosie Kurtz…anyway, the boys loved the campiness of the movie. They were totally glued to the TV til it was over. I’m not sure if this is a good thing, or a bad thing…but we had fun.
I watched two other movies this weekend. The Jane Austen Book Club and Waitress. I truly enjoyed both films, for completely different reasons. Of the two, I liked JABC better because it made me laugh out loud a lot. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. Even Fishdog enjoyed it…it’s not just a chick flick.
Now I’m off to start cleaning and organizing my bedroom. We don’t have the closet or bedroom space we used to have, so we need to purge and rearrange to make the most of our space. Wish me luck!
