happy birthday, RADER!

My baby boy turns 10 today. Weird.
He’s such a goof. The child doesn’t take a ‘regular’ picture. You know the kind with smile? No. He only takes funny face pics. But if we’re sneaky enough, sometimes we can catch him off guard and get a good shot.
He was a big baby. 8 lbs 6 oz…and 3 weeks EARLY. And he hasn’t stopped being a big boy since. He weighed 18 lbs at 3 months. My oldest son weighed that at 1 year! He’s almost always the tallest kid in his class and he’s almost always the smartest. For those of you who haven’t read my Rader stories, feel free to browse. They’re entertaining. My particular favorites are:

  1. Sex Education
  2. My Duck
  3. Inappropriate Conversations
  4. And of course, Licking Nipples

My child is special…there is no doubt about that.

Happy Birthday, Rader!

another milestone in this publishing biz

Today, I get my author photos taken. How cool is that?

These photos will be in my author promo kit the publisher will be sending out to booksellers, etc. You know, to create buzz. So my picture has to be buzz-inspiring.

I could wear a bee costume. Of course then I would just look like the “bee girl” from that Blind Melon video, all growed up. I’m not sure that’s the kind of buzz I want to create. (btw, I loved that video and I related so much to bee girl when that song came out. I wonder whatever happened to her)

Anyway, stay tuned for some pics. Probably, I’ll have you guys vote…and maybe I’ll listen. You never know with me.

Here enjoy the video while you wait…

my baby’s all growed up

Okay, maybe not all growed up, but close.

We had open house today at Catholic High. My baby is going to be a freshman in high school next year. I’m a little sad.

The dress code is slacks, button down collared shirt, and tie. So we made him wear the “uniform” to the open house today. His first tie. Awwwww.

He seemed to really like the school, despite his reluctance to communicate with words. I know that teens go through this period where the revert back to grunting Cro-Magnons, but I’m ready for us to move past the grunt and back to the land of words.

Maybe soon, we’ll see a real transformation. But right now, I’ll just have to be satisfied that we’re making forward progress. Here is a picture of where we are now:Mouth-breathing Cro-Magnon
Begin Transformation
Transformation stage 2
stage 3
End result. Gee, happy much???

oh noz, it’s the sleets!

It spit a little sleet for about a minute and a half and the whole town has shut down. Good Lord. I do not understand. It’s not supposed to get any worse, and when you let the schools out, all the parents rush to pick the kids up and create gridlock.

It’s just a little bit of sleet. It’s not even sticking. The city workers can de-ice the bridges and overpasses if we’re not all on the damn freeway.

I bet money the stores have been wiped clean of their milk and bread. Because, as you all know, we can’t have sleet or snow without an ample supply of milk and bread.

Especially since it’s only supposed to be 54 degrees tomorrow. We may be stuck inside Forever. *rolling eyes*

YAY!

My best friend and CP, Maria Geraci, sold to Berkley Sensation yesterday in a 2 book deal! The Church of Bunco will finally be on the shelves!!!! AWESOME!

Run over to read her story at the Titlewave blog! It’s a great story with a fabulous HEA!
Maria…you rock!

hello my pretties…

So, yesterday’s to do list?

Almost completely mastered. The only thing I didn’t finish was laundry, and since that’s really Fishdog’s job, any laundry I actually do is a bonus. Fishdog needs to snap to it.

I really don’t have anything interesting to blog about today. Rader hasn’t said anything super out there, Ian’s actually doing his homework right now and I haven’t been called to any school conferences in almost 2 weeks, Ruby is still cute, Pete loves having Ruby around, Ginger is still pissed off about Ruby and Hector could give 2 shits about anyone but Hector. He is Supreme Ruler, after all.

Okay, here’s something:

Am I the only person in the world who hadn’t heard of this super berry named the Acai berry? Apparently it’s all the supplemental rage right now. Even Vitaminwater‘s XXX drink has Acai in it.

I’m also the only person who hadn’t heard of the drink MonaVie which is apparently a vile tasting super antioxidant vitamin drink. Anyone out there tried it? Do you really feel differently? And can someone tell me why I’m the last person on earth to hear about this super product?

working for the weekend?

Not when you’re a writer! I am working TOWARD the weekend, but probably I will spend much of Saturday and Sunday butt-in-chair. It’s okay, though. Next weekend, I’m headed to KC with my best friend from high school to visit my best friend from college and one of my kids’ godfather, so I have to get this finished before I leave.

Cake, I tell you. Cake.

I made it to the gym this morning. One more day to go to meet my goal of 3 days this week. Maybe I’ll do a bonus 4th day just cuz I’m feeling good.

On my list of things to do today:

Work on manuscript
Buy a corkboard
Buy cake mix for school fundraiser
Do laundry and clean kitchen

On a sad note, I’m just sick about the death of Heath Ledger. Sigh. Not only was he beautiful to look at, but he was a brilliant, young actor and father. Anyway, I know there is death everyday and we put celebrities up on a ridiculously high pedestal and it seems weird to mourn a man that I never knew. But honestly, he seemed like a good egg–like he was one of the actors who could redeem Hollywood to some extent.

tuesday already?

When the kids have a 3-day weekend, my week gets all messed up.

Today, I have a hair appointment. Then I need to come home and work on my manuscript. I had planned to go to the gym today, but I’m a little sore from yesterday’s workout, so I may not make it.

My fitness goals for the year are going well. I’ve had a couple of setbacks, but overall, I’ve lost a little over 10% toward my goal. I feel great. I’ve actually cut out coffee and diet sodas. It’s been over two weeks since I’ve had either. I didn’t really mean to cut them out, it just happened. So, I’m going with it.

Reading wise, I’ve been chipping away at my RITA books. My stack is interesting and I’m hoping that I’ll discover at least one new author…if not more.

What’s going on in your life today? Anything fun? Special? Nothing at all?

Happy Tuesday, y’all.
