good morning girl…

Feeling a little grumpy today. Dunno why. Probably because I didn’t sleep well last night. I hate restless nights. UGH.

I decided to make a list of things that make me happy. In no particular order here we go:

  1. Rader’s sense of humor. The boy just makes me laugh.
  2. Ian’s smile. And the way his ears turn red when you ask him about his girlfriend.
  3. The smell of fresh brewed coffee
  4. Ruby kisses.
  5. Fresh honeysuckle or wisteria.
  6. I love the way new money feels and smells.
  7. And I love the way leather smells. (I guess I’m an olfactory girl.)
  8. These songs:
    1. Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations
    2. Judgment Day by Whitesnake
    3. Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry (Okay, really, that whole CD rocks my socks)
    4. Islands in a Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers
    5. Into the Mystic by Van Morrison
    6. Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne
    7. It Had to Be You by Harry Connick, Jr.
    8. Good Morning Girl, by Journey (click here for the less than 2 minute song that should inspire gods)
  9. Good friends.
  10. A cold beer on a hot day.

Of course, this is list is not all-inclusive but I already feel better. What about you? What puts you in a good mood if you wake in a funk?

Also, don’t forget to head over to Fictionistas to read a super interview with uber authors PC Cast and Kristin Cast.

Fictionistas

come see…

I’m at Fictionistas today talking about exercising my mind….

have you read any books lately that inspire you? Have you read any that just piss you off?

In other news:

I emailed my revisions to my editor on Friday and I spent the weekend ignoring the nastiness of my house and relaxing. I attended a cocktail party after the Arkansas Literary Festival with multi-pubbed author and good friend Ace Atkins. Check out his website and buy his books. He’s a buffet of all you can eat Awesome. And he’s cute, too. Especially when he and my hubby are having an in depth conversation about bourbon. Both consider themselves to be bourbon snobs, but Ace seems to be a little more discerning that the Fishdog. I just sipped my diet coke and smiled.

Did y’all do anything fun this weekend?

cross-eyed

spent today doing our taxes.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can uncross my eyes?

I think this is my last year to do this. I just have to get better organized. I can’t expect someone else to go through my ziploc bags full of receipts and detail the information out like I can…

Ugh.

stolen goods

I totally ripped this off from my girls at Naughty and Spice. I don’t care. Anything that can make me howl with laughter is worth stealing.

Richard Simmons and Jimmy Kimmel (guest starring Sam Elliot) am I still the only one who thinks Sam Elliot is HOT even though he’s got to be 110 years old?

yup. blame kristen.

I was going to blog about the tornadoes that ripped through central Arkansas and about being in the center of the “cone of silence” for about 10 minutes, but Kristen Painter tagged me. So blame her if you wanted to hear about the other stuff…

You’re feeling: rested. After the tornadoes, I slept like a baby

To your left: empty cup. empty water bottle. a can of pledge. a stack of receipts. something for the boys’ school that I forgot to complete. a drumstick . bandaids. paperclips. pictures.

On your mind: Will the house in Oxford sell soon.

Last meal included: 1 egg, handful of grapes, coffee

You sometimes find it hard to: not obsess over my diet. (speaking of diet, I’m down 6 lbs in two weeks. Yay!)

The weather: rainy and cool

Something you have a collection of: books, flamingos, lotions, sweatshirts and yoga pants

A smell that cheers you up: new money smell. honeysuckle. leather. baby lotion. fresh rain.

A smell that can ruin your mood: kitty litter in need of changing

How long since you last shaved: um, fairly recently?

The current state of your hair: in need of a good washing.

The largest item on your desk/workspace (not computer): an 8×11 picture frame holding pictures of me and my best friend Jen from high school.

Your skill with chopsticks: Why would I use chopsticks when a fork is available?

Which section you head for first in a bookstore: I browse the sales then head to Romance.

Something you’re craving: bread.

Your general thoughts on the presidential race: I’m ready for Clinton and O’Bama to come together. Right Now. I don’t care who gets shotgun, they just need to come to an agreement and then take back our country. (sorry. I usually don’t get political on here…)

How many times have you been hospitalized this year: zip

Favorite place to go for a quiet moment: my backyard when the yappy ass dogs behind us aren’t home.

You’ve always secretly thought you’d be a good: Soap Star

Something that freaks you out a little: the feel of the cotton in a pill bottle. *shudder* it oogs me out A LOT.

Something you’ve eaten too much of lately: Salad

You have never: gone through the drive thru naked.

You never want to: drown or suffocate

The tag ends with me. If you want to play, put it up, and let me know in the comments.

trackstar!

Ian took first place in his fleet in the 100 yard dash! Whoo!

Honestly, I didn’t think he had it in him. 🙂

Today is stormy. I would like to stay in bed, but no can do. If it were tomorrow, things would be different. The kids are out for Teacher’s Workday or some such thing. I’m sure it won’t be storming at all tomorrow just because I’ll have the opportunity to lounge around. You know, until the late hour of 7:30.

I remember the days of sleeping until noon. I can’t do it anymore. I WANT to, but my body just refuses. Then there were the days I slept until 9:00. Boy, that would be fabulous nowadays. But, no. It doesn’t happen. Not anymore. Sometimes I can sleep until 8:00. But rarely afterwards.

As my kids say, I must be getting old.

Whatever. I’m too damn cute to be old.

still working

BITE ME is going well. Thanks for asking.

Fishdog posted a few pics from our weekend on his blog. It hurts to remember.

Ian has his first track meet today. I have to find out what time his events are so we can go. The meet is supposed to last from 5:30 til 9:00. Unfortunately for my son, I’m just not that dedicated. Don’t judge me.

I’m about to start week 3 of my diet and things are going well. Oh? I didn’t tell you about my diet? Well, I joined The Diet Center and so far, it’s been fairly easy. I weigh in tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.

I also made Fishdog join. I figure I shouldn’t have to suffer alone. He’s only going to do it for 4 weeks through the center and then keep it up on his own. He’ll be more than halfway to his goal by the end of the 4 weeks anyway. I won’t reach my goal until the end of August…and that’s IF I stick to it the entire time. I’m going on vacation twice this year…to Boston in a month and then to San Francisco. So, I’m not sure I’ll meet my goal by end of Aug. Maybe end of September.

Rhonda is blogging about what she didn’t do on Spring Break over at Fictionistas.

Topic of chatter today: Do you often find the 2nd book of a series to be disappointing? Like maybe it’s less about the characters and more about set up for the next story? I have noticed that a lot lately…it’s becoming a bit frustrating, especially when the books are 500+ pages. (*koff* NEW MOON *koff*)

april fool’s day

Have never understood the appeal of April Fool’s Day. Guess I’m not a prankster at heart.

So, I’ve been working away these past few weeks. I’ve finished my proposal for my new YA Paranormal. The CPs seemed to really like it a lot. Which is good–they can be a tough audience. 😉 My lovely agent will be reading next week. Hopefully she’ll love it just as much and we’ll be good to go.

Still not ready to share with you what it is about. But I will. I promise.

I’ve also been working on another (and hopefully a final)(not so subtle hint hint to my lovely editor LOL Just kidding. I love you! I promise!) round of revisions on BITE ME. Chapter 1 of LOVE SUX is almost done as well. That book’s not due until next year sometime, so I’ve got time to let it brew. And I have a 3rd story idea for this series that is also brewing. Once I’m further into LOVE SUX, I’m going to start plotting out WHAT THE FANG. Yes. The title is awesome. Go ahead, praise it.

I have two other ideas brewing. One is another adult novel. It’s a great concept with fun characters and I’m going to hammer out a proposal before summer if things work out. Another is a top secret YA group effort. But…I have no idea when I’m going to work on it. LOL I have a character and a story…probably I need to get working on it soon.

I remember being afraid that I would run out of story ideas. I guess I had nothing to worry about.

Don’t forget to pop over to the Fictionistas blog today and check out Kristen Painter’s post on Guyliner…And be sure to pop over to Kristen’s blog and offer her some get well wishes. She’s a sick bunny right now. Poor baby.

Are y’all working hard on anything right now or hardly working?

the weekend.

um. I survived. Barely.

it started out beautifully and ended not so prettily.

There is a blackberry liquor that shall henceforth be known as liquid hate. Do not ask for details.

day 29 of my birthday month

Today is my second birthday of the month. (and it’s actually my dad’s and my niece’s REAL birthday. I’m so sweet, I don’t even mind sharing)

So for my 2nd birthday, we’re headed to the horse races at Oaklawn with a group of about 25 friends. It should be a great time and I even have a super cute new outfit to wear.

I’ll take lots of pictures. (some might be blurry…) and I’ll post them sometime tomorrow.

Today’s chatter topic: skinny jeans–should they have made a comeback or should they have stayed buried forever?

My opinion: buried. I can’t wear them, therefore they should not be allowed to exist.
