I’m a Mac girl at heart. I always have been. After my Sweet Baby Mac gave up on me a couple of years ago, I bought a little ASUS that works fine, but it’s really tiny and I just never loved it. Not as a laptop. It’s currently sitting on my desk at home, plugged into a monitor, and I use a full-size wireless keyboard to work on it. So it’s not even a laptop anymore. It’s a desktop. New things are afoot: MORE BOOKS!
Welcome to the new and improved website! I officially own http://www.bitchin-fiction.com and I am officially gonna make it awesomer.
Yes. Awesomer. It’s a word, because I just made it one. Continue reading

It’s Friday, Bitches! Yes, I can use the google translate like a boss.

zzzzzzzzz *snore* zzzzzzz *drool*
I cannot seem to wake up this week. I don’t get it! I’m sleeping well at night. I even refused to take Benadryl last night (which is like taking Ambien for me) so that I wouldn’t have the drugged haze this morning.
And still…here I am, on my 4th cup of coffee…fighting the Sandman to the death.
The Sandman is a wily booger, btw. And he fights dirty. I think the only reason I can’t keep my eyes open is because he somehow managed to slip in weighted ball-bearings into my eyelids. They just keep closing on their own.
Did someone switch the coffee to decaf??? Does someone need to die?
In writing related news…
*record scratch*
Que dramatics.
WHHHHAAAAAAAAT?
Did Mel just say “In writing related news? As in WRITING-writing? As in BOOKS?”
Yes, Mel did just say writing news…but don’t get too excited yet…
I am revamping my very first completed manuscript. Updating it (since it was written in 2003…and has references to “flip” phones and “surveillance TAPES”) and I’m cutting it down a bit and tightening up the writing. (I have grown as a writer since this book. THANKFULLY.) and then…once I think it’s ready, I’ll probably self-pub it for y’all to enjoy.
And you will enjoy it, if I do my job correctly.
So there’s your breaking news, bitches. I’m writing again. Getting back in the saddle. Officially. And I’m ready to rock out with my cock out.
Peace, love, and happy Wednesday! Everyone find a leg and get to humpin’!

So, I’ve been on an eternal quest for a healthier lifestyle…for oh, let’s say, eternity.
In March, I added a new skin care regime, because as I lose weight, it is highly possibly that I’ll get wrinkles. And as a woman of 44 years, who still gets carded on a regular basis, the last thing I need or want is to get wrinkles. At least, not yet.
I’ve been using Meaningful Beauty for 3 full months now, and this is me today, without any makeup on and no filters.
Not too bad for a 44 year old broad, huh? I was trying to find a good comparison picture. I found 1 that would work, but I have full makeup and glasses on so it was difficult to see the difference around the eyes. However the difference around the mouth is pretty significant.
Now, I purchased this product, so MB isn’t paying me anything to review it. Here’s what I have to say.
Yes, my skin looks fantastic and feels SMOOOOOOVE like a baby’s bottom. I’ve noticed a definite fading of crow’s feet and my laugh lines (which I actually love) are noticeably less prominent. I have no issues going without makeup (even though I need new lashes ASAP. Has anyone seen my eyes? Yeah, me either.)
I’m not a huge fan of the cleansing lotion. It doesn’t foam or bubble up, and I feel like I’m having to use more of it than I should. The kit doesn’t come with a night cream, so I use the day cream at night. That’s a huge disappointment. You have the option to ‘customize’ your kit and can add the night cream that way.
I also do not like the “club” set up, however, I have my automatic delivery for 20 weeks, which I can change at any time if I run low. That’s a nice option. Most “clubs” force your into a 90 Day /12 week automatic delivery.
The price point isn’t bad, especially if you set up your delivery for 4 months or more. I don’t need to use a lot of product, one little dab will do ya… or at least it does me. I’ve decided to keep using the product for at least one more round.
In Eating Cleaner news:
I fired up the grill and loaded it with some awesome locally grown veggies this weekend. Sweet potatoes, asparagus, okra, squash, green beans, tomatoes. I also grilled some pineapple, which was oh so yummy. We ate very well this weekend, let me tell ya.
I walked every day for an hour. Monday was hard because Sunday I had some girlfriends over and we enjoyed muy wine. I’ll have you know, I still did not go over my calories for the day, thankyouverymuch.
In OMG how awesome news, I met Ian’s friend-girl this week. (OMG, she’s adorbs). I’m not sure if they’re going to officially ‘date’ or not, it’s really not my business yet (it won’t be until it’s her birthday or Christmas, and then I’ll need to know if I need to buy her a present or not. Haha) But anyway, we were all hanging out on Wednesday and we were talking about parents and parenting styles etc., and I made a comment that sometimes parents have really high expectations of their kids and no matter what they accomplish, it won’t be enough because they expect more. (this is a concept I don’t understand as a parent, but I understand as a kid of those parents.) I said, “for example, I’ve published two young adult novels with a very prestigious publisher, and sometimes I think my mom still thinks I could do better.” She stopped and looked at me and said, “Wait. You’re Melissa Francis? As in BITE ME AND LOVE SUCKS Melissa Francis?”
Me: Yep.
Friend-Girl: OMG I LOVE YOUR BOOKS!! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE THAT MELISSA FRANCIS.
Me: Happy happy joy joy can’t stop smiling.
And in other OMG Awesome News…I got to see my Stacey Jay this weekend! Have you pre-ordered her latest book yet? WHY NOT?
order it. devour it. review it. and email Stacey and tell her she is made of awesome. (because she totes is).

Okay, there’s my weekend recap. It was a great weekend. The boys enjoyed Riverfest. Jefe and I enjoyed each other and the beautiful weather, and I also enjoyed my girl time with some of my besties. Life doesn’t suck.
let me catch you up on very important things
1. I haven’t felt well off and on for a month of so. Tired. Neck pain. Headaches. I blamed the pollen and I just picked myself up by the bootstraps and marched on.
Until this week when I was taken down by dizziness and stiff neck and headaches…powerful, yucky, no fun, headaches. And there was a knot on my face by my ear. And the right side of my face was swollen.
Guess who has an ear infection? This girl.
And it looks like it’s been going on a while. So I’m on loads of antibiotics for 10 days. Yippee.
2. Speaking of antibiotics…Walgreens is this [] close to losing my business. I waited in line for 25 minutes just to drop off the prescription… and only 1 person moved in the line. So I came back an hour later. The drive through was stacked 3 cars deep on each side. I went in…and waited 10 minutes just to drop it off…they said they would text me…it should be 20 minutes. An hour and a half later, at 8:59 pm, I got the text that my prescription was ready. The pharmacy closes at 9:00…so who didn’t get to start her medicine this morning? This girl.
Not cool, Walgreens. And this is not the first time this has happened. Jefe waited for an hour for his prescription that was only going to take a ‘few minutes.’ (hint: 60 minutes is way more than a few minutes.)
3. In the world of AWESOME news…BITE ME! and LOVE SUCKS! will be featured in the Scholastic e-book club starting in August! Yay! This is huge news and could be a big boost for the books. So gang, tell your friends to buy my books when they get their book club order forms!
4. My father-in-law, Poppy, is back in the hospital due to complications from his recent gall-bladder surgery. Any love, prayers or healing thoughts you can send his way will be much appreciated.
I’m meeting some friends from high school tonight. Even though I have an alien baby growing inside my face, I’m gonna tough it out for a margarita. I’m hoping the antibiotic will kick in and immediately start shrinking Susie (the knot, er, I mean, the alien baby). Also, I think the margarita will help me feel less dizzy.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
will lightning strike twice?
Yesterday I had a writing breakthrough. It was really weird because I’ve tried to make myself write this story that’s been haunting me for more than a year, but the reality is, I haven’t been able to do it. I have barely written anything in almost 2 years (maybe more). I actually thought maybe I was done. Maybe I had accomplished what I was supposed to with BITE ME and LOVE SUCKS, and it was time to focus my creative energy elsewhere.
And then yesterday happened.
Is my writing drought over? I have no idea. But for the first time in a LONG DAMN TIME I am excited about a story…and I am excited about writing.
I’m so glad I haven’t lost that part of my life, after all.
oops! I had mail!
Fishdog informed me today that he discovered a glitch in the code of my contact form page…therefore I haven’t received many of your emails! ACK!
So sorry about that. I did respond to all of the ones he found and forwarded to me. I am especially thrilled to report that I got fan mail from Romania! Woohoo! That’s a first!
The biggest question asked was “will there be a third book in the series.” I’m sorry to report that it doesn’t look like it, at this time. But y’all keep spreading your love for the series and who knows what will happen?
I read all of my fan mail and try to respond in a much more timely fashion. I promise. Nothing makes me smile brighter than reading happy notes about something I worked very hard on!
Thanks to all of you! (except for the anonymous ones that thankfully I didn’t have to read due to the glitch…)
In other news… well, it’s Friday. And I’m very glad about it. I think I’ll go to lunch with my college boy and after work, I will take a walk. It’s too pretty to stay inside…
Of course, you know that means it’s gonna rain now, right?
Happy weekend, y’all!
Maria Geraci: A GIRL LIKE YOU
Today is release day for my BFF writer friend in Florida…This is her 4th book. You better get your happy-ass out there and buy it. Especially if you enjoy reading, fun, love, more fun, and good writing.
This woman knows how to tell a story. Period.
Every ugly duckling is a swan in waiting…
Emma Frazier is smart, hardworking, and loves her job as a journalist for a Florida lifestyle magazine. Emma knows she’s no great beauty, but she’s pretty certain she has a shot with her handsome new boss, Ben Gallagher—until Emma overhears a mutual acquaintance refer to her as the “ugly friend.” In an effort to reclaim her battered self-esteem, Emma decides to impress Ben at work by promising an exclusive interview with NASCAR legend, Trip Monroe.
Emma and Trip went to high school together and although it’s been fourteen years since they’ve spoken, Emma is certain she can score an interview with the elusive super star. But connecting with Trip turns out to be harder than Emma imagined. Her quest for the interview leads her back to her tiny hometown of Catfish Cove, where old secrets and a new romantic interest shake up Emma’s views on life and teach her that maybe the key to finding true love is as simple as accepting yourself for the person you were always meant to be.
I love you, my friend.
I cannot tell a lie
I’m very excited about seeing The Lorax. It was one of my all time favorite Dr. Seuss books, even with it’s doom, gloom, and smog. It was reality wrapped up in tiny furry guy with a giant yellow mustache.
Also, I wanted a Truffula Tree
I mean, who wouldn’t want a tree that looked like Cotton Candy growing in their yard?
Guess who’s never read The Lorax? El Jefe. Guess who’s gonna be reading it very soon? El Jefe.
Heh.
So it’s Monday morning, and I spent the weekend running Rader to soccer, walking, burning stuff, and having beers with Birdrunner. El Jefe and I also took the dogs to the park where they explored the creek and had a very fun time.
Oh! And I washed my car! BlueBelle hasn’t had a bath in a very long time. She looks so much better now.
I’m sure I did other stuff too, but really, who cares? My life is so boring, I’m even putting myself to sleep. Sorry about that.
Hopefully, it won’t stay boring too much longer, because The Month of Mel begins in 3 days….
Are. You. Ready?
