ugh

it’s currently 2:30 a.m. and I’m awake because of a storm that has descended upon the house. It is crazy mad!

My flight for DC leaves in 4 hours. That sucks because I hate being tired and flying. Oh well, what can I do?

The good news is, I officially have packed a carry on bag only for the conference. Go ahead, be in awe. You should be. I know I am.

I’ll be very busy this week but I promise to update the blog as much as possible. And I’ll be twittering. I promise.

I’m going to try to sleep now.

G/N (or would that be G/M?) blogosphere. Sweet dreams.

dry counties are from the devil

As most of my rabid fans loyal readers know, I flew to Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday. I was picked up and transported to Steubenville, OH so that I could drive a recently wrecked and repaired car home to Little Rock.

It’s a long drive, but one I did gladly. Mainly because it gave me loads of time to think and plot and it must’ve worked because I came home and wrote 17 pages yesterday. Yes I put the AWE in Awesome.

Where was I? Oh yes, driving. Endlessly, driving. I was determined to get to Louisville, but about 30 miles before I arrived at my destination, I hit a wall. (figuratively. I did not literally hit a wall. Promise.)

So I see an exit for Ballardsville, KY which is actually only about 15 miles from Louisville. It’s a decent little area with some nice hotels and grocery stores. I see a Wal-mart right across from a fairly new Holiday Inn Express. I am exhausted and I want nothing more than to have a beer and go to bed. I go to Wal-Mart first so I can buy myself a six-pack, only to find out I stopped in a dry county.

WTF? WHY do we still have dry counties today? Why? I am an adult. If I choose to have a beverage adult in nature that’s my choice, not yours. Out of respect for all travelers, they should just do away with dry counties and no Sunday Sales. Seriously. Or at least post a ‘dry county’ warning on each exit sign.

Get this…where I stopped was actually considered a “moist” county because you could buy beer at a restaurant. Again, this makes no sense to me. I can go out to eat, get liquored up and drive back to the house, but I can’t go to a store, buy a six-pack, and take it home to drink myself silly. Whatever.

The desire to have a beverage superseded my exhaustion. I hopped back into the Saturn, and headed toward Louisville. I decided to drive about 10 minutes on the other side of the city, so that I would miss morning traffic the next day. I found a town, stopped at a gas station, bought myself a 6 of Guinness, stayed in a comfortable Fairfield Inn…drove to Nashville and had lunch with one of my Romance Divas (Hi Lauren!) and made it home Friday night around 6:30. (I slept a little late on Friday morning.)

All in all, it was an easy, uneventful trip. But I’m glad to be home.

early morning at the airport

Is interesting.

Right now I’m sitting on the bench waiting for my boarding call. Next to me are two chimps. They must be chimps because they haven’t stopped screeching or moving. Mom and Dad chimp think they are so cute.

It’s way too early for this to be cute.

That is all.

home again

And absolutely wasted. Totally beat.

Will be better tomorrow and will also have evidence pictures to share.

I absolutely had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. The party was fab–but the after party? Even fabber.

Oh, and I may even have a Matt Damon story or two for you.

Wicked Awesome.

last night

Much sinning occurred at the club called Saint. And dancing. Sinning and dancing.

Have pictures–some I can even show you.

We got back to our room around 3:00 a.m. Maria’s Loinfruit (Stephanie) and I ordered a pizza. Well, she ordered a pizza and french fries then yelled at the room-service guy when he said they don’t do fries that late. ‘WHAT? WHO DOESN’T DO FRIES FOR LATE NIGHT ROOM SERVICE?’ Um, well, the Lenox Room service, that’s who.

This morning we were up and at ’em early. I met fellow Fictionistas blogger, Chrissy. We had a lovely gossip over breakfast and coffee. Had the nicest time. Wish I could’ve spent more time with her, but Maria, Loinfruit, and I had a Duck Tour Appointment.

OMG. The Duck Tour. What a riot. Everyone should do a Duck Tour of Boston. Go. Now. Make a reservation.

I’ll post pics when I get home. Now I’m going to warm up and rest (it is as cold as a witch’s titty in a brass bra here today). We’re having dinner tonight and then I fly home tomorrow.

Boston is a beautiful town. It’s weird, I’m not really a “history” girl, but every time we pass a beautiful piece of architecture or something from the set of JOHN ADAMS I think, “Wow. History is here.”

It’s true.

BTW, I haven’t seen Matt Damon yet, but I promise, I’m looking.

have laptop, will travel

My flight leaves at 6:30 this morning, which means I had to wake up before the roosters. I am not a morning girl.

so I’m sitting in the Little Rock National Airport with my cuppa Joe and my trusty laptop, impatiently waiting. Boston is just a few hours away. This is my first trip to Beantown and my first book launch party. I’m taking notes so I’ll know what to do for mine next year.

I can’t wait to see all my friends. We’re gonna have a blast. I’ll take lotsa pics and try to post a couple of times while I’m there.

Meanwhile, don’t forget my LOLcats contest to win a copy of Gena Showlater’s NY Times Bestselling Book, The Darkest Night. (Congrats Gena. You deserve it!) and a copy of Marley Gibson’s (Kate Harmon) Zeta or Omega.

Also, for a fabulous interview with Miss Marley, head to Kwana’s blog!

a mel-o-dramatic mélange

So, where were we? Ah yes, yesterday’s list–updated

  1. Finish revising proposal, send to DK. check
  2. Start plotting new book idea. partially checked
  3. Clean off disgusting desk, partially checked. Finishing now.
  4. Hang anniversary present over desk.
  5. Vacuum and dust.

I could’ve told you yesterday that #5 would still be on the list. Guess what, it will probably still be on the list next week, too. Why hast thou forsaken me, Alice?

Next on my blog topic list? Today was weigh in day. I am officially down 11.5 lbs in 5 weeks. I’m pretty stoked. I worked hard this week, because Sunday we had a birthday party for my nephew and I accidentally ate chicken fingers, pizza, cake and ice cream. I made sure I busted my ass at the gym and walking. Plus all my yard work. I had to make up for all that accidental gorging.

I had hoped to be -15 for my trip to Boston next week, but I don’t think I’ll quite get there. I supposed I could do a Biggest Loser workout, and hit the gym twice a day, every day, for 4 hours or so. Heh. Who am I kidding. I’ll try to lose this week, maybe I can get to -13 before I head to Bean-town.

I really can’t wait to go. I’m gonna hang out with my friends and celebrate Marley Gibson’s (writing as Kate Harmon for this series) debut release! Beta Zeta or Omega? is available for pre-order now!

While in Boston, I’m going to get a chance to meet fellow TKA Sistah and blog-friend, Kwana Jackson! Yippee! I’m also gonna hang with my cps and BFFs, Louisa and Maria. And hot glamazon Kristen Painter. I mean, could my life be any better? I think not. Oh wait! There’s more! Marley and I share an agent, so yes, life could get better, because the lovely Deidre Knight will be there, too! Go ahead. You can be jealous. I’ll let ya.

Have I missed anyone? I’ll let you know when I return. With pictures.

Let’s see. What else did I want to talk about? Oh yeah. Top Shit Chef. Can I just say I’m disgusted that Jen went home? I really liked her. A lot. Sniff.

Okay, I think that’s it for today’s blog-o-plenty. Have y’all had a good week? Anything going on that I need to know about? And have y’all seen any cute shoes that are comfy that will go with my cute black dress? Let me know…

Oh and before I forget: Amanda has a fantastic post on Cyber-stalking/Cyber-bullying over at Fictionistas. Check it out. There are some CRAZIES out there!

ooops. forgot to blog

Sorry I missed my early morning post today. I was sore. Very sore. Had a difficult time getting out of bed.

Why?

Because yesterday, I went back to they gym for the first time in 2 months. Sure, I’ve been walking, so the elliptical was no problem. But the circuit training? Ouch. And the ab work? OUCH. Oh yeah, I’m feeling it.

The good news is, if things keep going well, I may be down 15 lbs by May 1…which is when I leave for Boston for my friend Marley Gibson’s (aka Kate Harmon) book launch party. I am so excited. I’ve never been to Beantown and I’ve never been to a launch party. I will be taking notes for my very own launch party next year.

I’m going to see my CPs, Louisa and Maria in Boston. We’re long overdue for a visit, let me tell ya. We usually try to get together in January–just the 3 of us. But this year, that didn’t work out. So I haven’t seen either of them since last September. Way too long.

I’m also going to see my friend Kristen Painter. Can. Not. Wait.

Speaking of Kristen, she’s in Hawaii this week…and she’s blogging about it over at Fictionistas. Go check it out.

hi honey! i’m home!!

After 12 hours and one book on CD…I made it home. Funny how the trip down didn’t take near the amount of time the trip home took. I guess driving while juiced up on adrenaline makes a difference.

Last week was an unbelievable blast. Debauchery and gluttony ruled the roost and a blood oath was taken by each of the very willing participants that details of the trip would never be given to any outsiders.

It’s a shame I can’t speak of such things. Truly. I have great pictures memories.

Today is my official first day as a fulltime writer. Of course, I had to fix Mom’s computer and I have to buy groceries, but my goal is 3 hours of writing today. I wrote some last week…not nearly as much as I should have though. I did discover that it is difficult to type while holding a beverage in each hand.

I went back to the gym today. My week of sin carried over to my eliptical time. I could only do 20 minutes today and it felt like I was slogging through wet sand. I’ll work my way back up to the half hour. Maybe tomorrow.
