2011: Month of Mel Day 22: spring!

This morning I’m enjoying my coffee on my screened-in-porch watching the kittehs wreak havoc in the yard. No dead bird gifts so far, but it’s not for lack of trying…Clementine has also been skulking after the bunnies. Let’s hope she’s unsuccessful this year; sadly she wasn’t last year. She is hard.

I’m also blogging from my iPad today. (all hail ¡el jefe!). I’m using the touchscreen keyboard which is relatively easy to use. I’m even using both hands…and honestly I thought it would be more like texting than typing. So even tho I miss my baby Mac, my darling iPad looks to be a good substitute until I can get Mac fixed. iPad needs a name though. Will gladly take suggestions.

It’s going to be warm again today but it seems kinda overcast. I am supposed to walk with Birdrunner this afternoon so the weather better cooperate.

2011: Month of Mel Day 21: FRESH PICK!

March 21, 2011

LOVE SUCKS! Was chosen by Fresh Fiction as today’s Fresh Pick!

The Fresh Pick is chosen by a group of readers and is never a
purchased advertisement or promotion. We’ve chosen your book
because it appeals to us and we like to share our diverse tastes
in reading and hope other readers will give it a try.

Here’s a link to their orignial review if you haven’t seen it yet.

Thank you Fresh Fiction! This made my day!

In other news, my hardcore cat, Clementine, gifted me with a dead bird this morning. Oh boy, that sure was fun to clean up. She was so proud. I was soooo, grossed out.

2011: Month of Mel Day 18

I did not get kidnapped by leprechauns last night, nor did I find the pot o’ gold. But I did have a fantastic time with a group of women that I will be traveling to the beach with in exactly 46 days.

If y’all know anything about me, it’s that I need to be at the beach. Remember my charm necklace? One of my charms says Sand, Sun, Surf and that is pretty much my key to happiness right there.
This weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. We’re gonna have near 80 degree weather (it was actually 85 yesterday!!) and SUNSHINE! I am going to allow the sun to worship me all weekend. I’m not exactly sure what my plans are yet, but I promise to report back on Monday–with a tan line.
Okay, it’s off to work I go now, but I will be done at noon, and you will find me sitting in the sun reading by 12:30… Okay, maybe 1:30 as I do need to do a few things inside the house first…
Y’all have a great weekend! If you have any big plans, report them to me. If you are snowed in somewhere, I’ll try to send some sun vibes your way.

2011: Month of Mel; Day of St. Patrick

Are ye wearin’ yer green today, lads and lassies?

I haven’t started looking for my four-leaf clovers yet, but I’m thinking today might be the perfect day to start! You know I’ll find one if I try…

Today is going to be a banner day! I’m wearing my green dress and pretending to be Irish all day… You know what that means, right?

That’s right! I pretend to be Irish and you get to kiss me! Lucky you!

I’m also going to listen to some of my favorite Irish bands today: The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Elvis Costello (English born, Irish ancestory. and I heart him), Sinead O’Connor, The Cranberries, Thin Lizzy… Firing up my Pandora station as we speak!

And tonight, when I get home, I think I’ll have to watch P.S. I Love You one more time. Sigh.

Here’s some links to some of my favorite scenes from that movie:

Galway Girl

I Love You til the End

And this song is my current ringtone:

2011: The Month of Mel; The DAY OF NEMO

My eldest son turns 17 today. (Obviously I was a teen mom…) It’s so difficult for me to remember this child:

Ian may be known as Nemo by all of his friends now, but when he was first born, he was known as Treefrog. He was born almost a full month early (Thank the maternity gods) and was a tee-tiny little 5 lbs 6 oz. Which means his itty bitty booty fit into the palm of my hand.
Then our little Treefrog grew up and we started to call him Goose. (I can’t remember for the life of me why.) Anyway, Goose had a real hard time keeping his clothes on. I think he was probably 5 or 6 years old before we convinced him that joining a Nudist Colony was not a part of our life plan, so please put on your underwear.

My baby ain’t a baby no more… Happy Birthday, Nemo. Let’s eat some ribs tonight!

2011: Month of Mel Day 15 (The Day After…)

I (barely) survived the Day of Mel…did you?

We had the best time last night at SO. I’m seriously a very lucky girl to have so many wonderful people in my life.

Here are the only 2 pics that survived the night because somehow, some way I lost my camera. If anyone knows the whereabouts of said camera…please let me know!

I wore my new sexy leopard stilettos last night and didn’t break my ankle! YAY! I’ll post a pic tomorrow of them and my super glittery sexy toes. I went with the color: Catch Me in Your Net

Happy Day after the Day of Mel!

2011: THE DAY OF MEL (aka Pi(e) Day)

It’s my birthday. Let’s all eat pie.

I’m having dinner with El Jefe and a group of friends tonight. I’m going to wear my sexy new shoes and show off my beautiful glittery toes. And I’m going to have a really good time.
I’d also like to send a Birthday Shout Out to my fellow Pi girl, Beth. We share the same bday which isn’t a surprise since the rest of our lives have been hauntingly parallel.
Here is a pic of me and ALL CAPS KRISTAL from my bday party last year. I may have to wear my tiara and feathers again tonight, but I really don’t want them to detract from my shoes. 😀

2011: Month of Mel Day 11

First, I have the best friends in the world. Thank you guys for a wonderful Girls (and Guys)Night Out Bday party last night. And to Allana, a big ol’ super duper thank you for my wonderful 4-leaf clover cake.

And congrats to Jim and Sara and that big ol’ baby boy Ralph…9lbs 2 oz! everyone is well…just tired. March 10, 2011: Day of Ralphasaurus!

Please send all your healing thoughts to Japan, Hawaii, and our west coast as that tsunami heads that way. Here’s hoping it dies down and is little more than an annoyance. And to my friends who have loved ones in those places, you’re definitely in my thoughts. Much love to you all.

2011: Month of Mel Day 10 (and soon to be the Day of Ralph)

Look! Official proof I finished the half-marathon!

There are other pictures and even a video clip of me “running” across the finish line. Painful to watch. But hey, the goal was to finish…not finish with style. Hah!

Now onto the fun stuff! My friends Sara & Jim are somewhere in the ATL birfin’ a baby Ralphasaurus today! C’mon into the world, Ralph. There are loads of Aunties and Uncles who can’t wait to meet you!

I love sharing my month with very awesome people. And babies who are being born to awesome people. (who will naturally grow up to be awesome.)

Happy soon to be birthday, Ralph!

In other news, here’s what I’ve decided to give up for Lent:

Who’s with me?

2011: Month of Mel Day 9

So I receive Notes from the Universe every day and they are awesome. How much do I love today’s note?

Here, Melissa, friends adore you, strangers admire you, and physical laws fear you.

OMG – Is this like “Melissa Francis World,” or what?

You can have it all,
The Universe

Dude. The Universe gets me.

In fun news, I got this new camera app for my iPhone (Camera+) and have been playing with all the fun extras.

Fun with Filters, Borders, and Lighting: OH MY!

Today is Wine Wednesday and I will be having me some of that with Birdrunner after work. Add in lunch with Laura and Jenn today and you have a very bright and happy(even if it is gloomy outside right now) day.
