BITE ME Oxford!

At long last, here are some pics from my signing in Oxford, Mississippi with @Stacey_Jay.

Me and Stacey

My youngest fan!

I’m having trouble getting blogger to upload pics today, so for the entire album, please go here: Bite Me Oxford!

going back to O-town…

Get your mind out of the gutter. I swear.

This weekend, fellow Arkansas YA Author Stacey Jay (she writes the best little zombie books around) and I (is that proper grammar? I just doesn’t sound right…I know, I’m the writer, I should know these things, but I’m tired, have had only 1 cup of coffee, and am not firing on all cylinders yet.) Anyway…WE will be in Oxford, Miss. this weekend.

There may be one slight change–it is possible that we’ll be at OFF Square Books instead of Jr. So if we’re not at one, we’re at the other. The good news is, they’re only a block away from each other so really, it’s not biggie.

I’m looking forward to being back in Oxford. I miss my pals and the kids there. I know my boys are happy to be going back for a night. It will be a fun time all around. I hope y’all are ready because I plan to make all of you stay and play. It’s a rule…and since I’m the Queen, you have to obey.

Hope to see you all there!

worn out and reviewed!

Yesterday was a big day. I posted pics from my book launch party over at Fictionistas. Go forth and check them out!

Today is going to be low key…I’m planning to float the keg with my pal Robyn (who I owe a vital organ to for hosting my party. I may never be able to thank her properly!) and then just relax after an extreme weekend! It’s not everyday you get to have your debut book party!

I got some good news today…BITE ME! was reviewed by Publisher’s Weekly and it’s a rockin’ review. Here, check it out:

Bite Me! Melissa Francis. HarperTeen, $8.99 paper (304p) ISBN 978-0-061-43098-5

First-time novelist Francis presents a tasty story that uses humor and a light touch to rise above typical teen vampire fare. Seventeen-year-old “good girl” AJ may be a closet blood-drinker, but that’s the least of her problems. Her mom’s remarriage has just turned her boyfriend into her stepbrother (“Momma’s exact words to me were, ‘Ariel Jane, if you so much as look at that boy with fangs in your eyes again, I’ll bite you myself.’ ”), her AP Lit teacher is already out to get her on the first day of school, and she might have accidentally turned her rebound guy into a vamp who is now threatening her family. On top of that, she’s been accused of cheating on a quiz, and compromising photos have appeared on her Facebook page—someone has to be setting her up. But who? Francis keeps things moving, creating an absorbing and refreshing page-turner with a solid mythology, sympathetic heroine and appealing characters that readers will want to invite back to their own homes (well, almost). Ages 14–up. (Aug.)

You can safely say I’m riding high right now!

I’m on AUTHOR TALK!

I apologize in advance for the excessive cleavage. Oh who am I kidding, no I don’t!

Thanks so much to Gena and Jill! Y’all are awesome.

so tired

And today’s rain doesn’t help! It’s dark and stormy outside and all I wanna do is stay snuggled up in bed.

But that’s not in the cards today. I’m headed to the office until 3:00 and then hopefully back home where I’ll start catching up on those much neglected chores: you know, laundry, cleaning the house, doing something about the pig sty that is my desk.

Or maybe I’ll just come home and go back to bed. Guess it depends on if it’s still dark and stormy.

This has been a fantastic week. I’ve been blessed with such great friends and wonderful support. I can’t properly express my gratitude. I have fabulous friends.

Thank you guys. I’m a very lucky girl.

signing stock

Yesterday was kinda cool. I forced asked my boys very nicely to go with me to the Little Rock Barnes and Noble to take some pics and celebrate with me. My friend Shannon came along. (Her husband made me a beautiful pen to do sign with. It is amazing. You’ll see pics in this post)

On the way to the store, Rader asked: So will there be paparazzi there? Um, not yet sweetheart. But give me time…

In this pic, I’m just so excited to be putting signed by author and Local Author stickers on my book!

Isn’t my special pen magnificent? Fern did an amazing job!

Today’s the day!

It’s on the shelves!

If you’re unable to run out and buy it today, never fear, you have several chances to win a free copy.

My friend Diana Peterfreund is giving away a copy on her blog.

I’m giving away a copy on the Knight Agency Blog

and

I’m doing a contest on Fictionistas for a copy of the book, some swag, and a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate.

Go forth and win!

(of course, you know that even if you win, you’ll still be required to buy at least two copies of my book. It says so in my bio…)

things to ponder

Why is it that I can wake up at 6 a.m. with no problems and feel well rested on a Sunday, but come a work day, I feel like I’ve been trampled by an elephant?

Why does my dog bark at the mailman when he’s a block away on a different street? Also, why does my dog have a problem with the neighbors parking in their own driveway?

Why don’t houses come with a ‘self-cleaning’ option?

Why can’t I go to a movie without buying popcorn? It’s ridiculously expensive and stupid to purchase it, yet it tastes so good I can’t resist!

Why did my daddy nickname me Lissa Jane when I was growing up when my middle name is Renee?

Why does the word ‘fart’ make Rader laugh?

How is it I can find 30 4-leaf clovers in fifteen minutes, but I can’t pick a winning lottery number? What the hell kinda crack-job luck is that?

How excited am I that in 3 weeks (exactly 21 days from today) you’ll be able to buy my debut novel BITE ME! off the shelves?
