in a nutshell

Frederick, MD is a pretty awesome place. And a big shout out to Caroline for putting us up.

I met some fantastic people:

Counted down the New Year:

And got my first (and hopefully not last!) kiss of 2011:

Day 1 of 2011 was spent in the haze of a slight coma. Then day 2, El Jefe and I hit DC for some sightseeing and some good eatin’. I have pics but don’t have time to mess with them today. Stay tuned…

In Razorback news: Well, what can we say. They could have won…they had ample opportunity to win, but they made some bad mistakes and it cost them. I’m not hatin’ on my hogs though. This was their first BCS bowl and they played with heart.

Happy New Year! I’ll see y’all tomorrow.

Don’t you forget about me

El Jefe and I are headed back after a wonderful vacation! Never fear! I will return to blogging on Wednesday. Unless we win thr mega-millions lottery. If that happens, it’s been nice knowing ya!

Hope y’all had a happy new year!

east bound and down

loaded up and truckin’…

Check you cats later! Meanwhile, enjoy some Snowman and Bandit…oh and don’t forget Fred!

Give him five minutes and he’ll meet you at Ole Miss. 🙂

back from Cleavage, um I mean, Beaver Lake

It takes 4 hours to drive to Beaver Lake. My air is out in my car. I was swimming in my own sweat by the time I arrived.

It was so worth it.

I am back. Relaxed. And ready to rock.

Oh. and I tried out a new bathing suit…you guys think I’ve done cleavage before? Um no. This suit was made in Cleavagetown designed by Cleavage von Cleavageton. I love the suit, but I’m not so sure it’s suitable for mixed company. Or at least if children are nearby. Like in the same county.

I thought about posting a picture, but then I might have to change the rating of this blog…

Oh hell. Why not? You tell me, yay or nay? Do I bravely wear this suit amongst the mere mortals or do I wear it only amongst my goddess like girlfriends?

Did y’all have a good weekend?

do the humpty-humpday dance!

Team BITE ME! placed 4th last night at Live Team Trivia! We were in 1st place the entire game, but that damn WAGER OF DEATH at the end killed us. We got 2 answers reversed and lost 16 pts in the process.

Ah well. We’re still in the top 3 overall. We are still contenders to play for $10,000!!

It is Wednesday and boy am I happy about it. If the weather holds off, I’ll be enjoying some poolside girl time today. As Spongebob says: “I’M READY!”

So as of 7:55 this morning, I am officially registered for the RWA Conference in Orlando. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna drive to Tallahassee and ride down to Orlando with Maria. I’m even thinking about bringing Rader along with me…would love to bring both boys, but Ian will already be in school.

As excited as I was about staying at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, (which as you should all know is flooded, therefore our conference had to be relocated) I have to tell you, I’m just as excited about staying at the Swan and Dolphin hotel in Disney. I’ve been to Disney at least 8 times in my life (never get tired of it, btw) and I’ve NEVER stayed at a Disney property. Never, ever, ever. So this is pretty darn cool to me.

Can. Not. Wait. And while I’m there, I’ll be going to Universal Studios (the greatest place on earth) to fill up on some Harry Potter. I don’t care if it’s July. There ain’t enough heat in the muggle world to keep me away from visiting the Wizarding World of Harry …

the girls at beaver lake

heh. I am just going to stay away from the obvious porn joke.

We had a glorious three days on the lake, just me and my girls. We had a lot of fun conversations, a few serious conversations, a fair amount of adult beverages, and an all-around good time.

Let me show you:

This was the view from the cabin deck. Gorgeous, no?

Me on the last morning at the lake. A summer storm blew in and blew out and we had a gloriously beautiful last day.

This is the large waterfall. See the rainbow? I spent an hour looking for the pot-o-gold. Apparently I only have massive amounts of luck finding 4-leaf clovers…

This is the small waterfall. The water is the prettiest blue-green.

The lagoon at the small waterfall. D calls this place Shangri-La

Me on the boat. This is living!

the upcoming week…

It’s Monday, and of course, I’m blogging over at Fictionistas. Pop over and say hi.

I’m currently at Beaver Lake with my girlfriends having a very good time. Look, read about last year’s trip here: Tales From Beaver Lake
For a funny bit of trivia, I just got a pedicure this weekend and my toes are painted Lizard Green. I love them.

Apparently last year, before I went on this very same trip, I had my toes painted the very same green.

This year’s toes:

I’ll blog lots when I get back–I’m sure I’ll have loads of material, just not sure I’ll be able to actually share any of it.

sorry ’bout that

I kinda forgot to blog yesterday. I blame Jennifer Christmas Christman. From now on, it will always be her fault if I don’t blog.

Today is a cave day. If it’s not raining, I’ll head to Burns Park to see Rader play soccer, but it looks like it’s gonna be rainy all day. And I need to pack. Because just in case you haven’t heard, I’m running away to Florida for 10 days.

That’s right. 10 whole days. Orlando for the RT Convention.

I’ll be blogging during the week, possibly multiple times a day. I’ll also be a twittering fool. So be prepared.

Have a great Saturday! I’m off to pour myself another cuppa joe and start packing. Bathing suit? Check. Flip Flops? Check.

Done.

"home" sorta

Actually, I fly back to Little Rock tomorrow, but I’m no longer at the beach. Sadness does not begin to explain how I feel. I love the beach. I was separated at birth from the beach. The beach and I are soul mates.

Now if I could only get the Fishdog on board with my constant, unyielding need for the beach.

Last night, I started reading FIRST YOU RUN by Roxanne St. Claire. How have I missed her books? Can someone please explain this to me? This book hooked me immediately and even though I was so tired from traveling last night, I couldn’t put the damn thing down. Of course, this meant I had to buy her back list. Amazon.com loves me.

Seriously, if you like Romantic Suspense, run out and buy her Bullet Catcher books. NOW YOU DIE was released on Wednesday. Sockmonkey was on the program…where have I been?

There are 6 books in the series, but the last three are a trilogy all on their own. So, click these links and buy those books. Go ahead, I’ll wait..

FIRST YOU RUN
THEN YOU HIDE
NOW YOU DIE

There. Don’t you feel better? I know I do.

more on the beach..

Sockmonkey buckles up for our long drive!
We arrive in Destin, only to discover Tropical Bitch Fay was following us. Sockmonkey sat in the window begging Fay to go to hell.
Maria, Louisa and I take a walk on the beach. These perfectly pedicured toes belong to me and louisa!
This is just before Tropical Bitch Fay showed up.
And this is just after Tropical Bitch Fay went away.

It rained on Monday, but we’ve had beautiful weather since then.Look at those WAVES!

Jealous???
