The Prodigal Blogger Returns

Yeah, I missed you too, but not enough to pull out my computer and let you know. Sorry about that. It’s been a very hectic 10 days and I’ve been exhausted. I was on some awesome pain meds for a few days that probably would have made for some fantastic blogs, but luckily for me, they also made me too tired to try. So I’ve been spared the humiliation of Drugged Blogging and sadly, you’ve been denied the awesome it could have been. Maybe next time.

I did finally get The Bachelor Episode 6 (last week’s episode) recap up Monday and Episode 7 was posted last night, so if you haven’t already, please go read the crazy.

What’s been going on? Well mostly sleeping. I did get out for a margarita last Thursday which was fun, I went Disco Diva Shopping with Robyn for an exclusive (are you on the list?) Studio 54 event coming up in March, it snowed for about 2 hours on Monday and was really pretty until it turned to rain, Rader took the entrance exam at Catholic High, we went to see Safe House which was action packed and awesome, but sadly Ryan Reynolds wore a shirt, and El Jefe and I enjoyed a lovely steak dinner for Valentine’s day. Look at my pretty roses and orchid:

I’m settling back into a groove, and I hope to get back to more regular blogging…because we have the Month of Mel coming up in just two weeks! Are y’all ready?

the week! it went by so fast.

It’s been a very busy week. I had things and stuffs to take care of. So I did.

and now it’s the weekend, and I am happy about it.

Here’s a picture of a Cat in a Box. (well, a drawer actually) Clementine almost didn’t fit…

and here’s a pic of the dogs. Trinity likes to pretend she doesn’t need anyone or anything, but notice she’s touching Ruby. Because she loves her. Together 4ever.

Please ignore the 2 baskets of unfolded laundry. Thanks.

We have plans to hang with friends at Gusano’s for the Arkansas vs. Auburn game. Should be a good game. Will definitely be a good time either way.

Woo Pig Sooie!

I am very excited about an upcoming November event that miraculously managed to get put together! We have friends from 3 different states coming in for a weekend of frivolity and celebration! And probably Shenanigans. Lots and lots of shenanigans.

We may even party like it’s 1999…

yeah yeah. sorry ’bout that

Sorry I forgot to blog yesterday. I was too busy being awesome to get around to it.

I know I have at least ONE regular reader who is sad about that. Not sad that I’m awesome, but sad I was too busy to share it.

Good news is, I’m here now.

I AM TAKING FRIDAY OFF AND IT IS MARGARITA THURSDAY! YAY! It does not suck to be me today. (or ever. Let’s face it. ^ see the part about awesome.)

Here’s my latest cool cat pic. The cool side of the pillow wishes it was Clementine.

Who’s the cat that won’t cop out, when there’s danger all about? Shaft? No. Clementine, right on.

Y’all have a great weekend. I hope to have more awesome for you next week!

bad blogger

Blogger was down yesterday and most of today so I didn’t get to blog. Bad Blogger. No soup for you!

Unfortunately, I don’t really have anything of value to say today other than The Fictionistas (the group blog that I’m a member of) has a new Facebook Page. Go like us.

Be good this weekend, or be good at it…

nothing to see here…

Move along. I’m actually really busy today. Work, paperwork for new gig, some house stuff, girl’s night out & El Jefe. Oh and then there’s the 100 Million other errands I’ll end up doing in between. Enjoy this song that I’ve recently fallen in love with and hopefully I’ll blog before I head to Oxford tomorrow. If not…see ya next week!

MONTH OF MEL: Day 19–I’m [sorta] Baaaack!

Dear Blogiverse,

I have missed you like I would miss oxygen (NOT to be confused with the Oxygen Channel). Wow. Who knew that when my ability to ramble on daily went away, it would feel like a phantom pain?

Okay, so at first, it was kinda nice not having the pressure of waking up and posting something witty. I mean let’s face it, being witty every single day is a talent. But conjuring wit every morning with my cuppa Joe can sometimes be challenging.

So much has gone on since we lost contact. The MONTH OF MEL started! I had a party, wore a tiara and a lighted feather boa! I had friends feed me and play with me and pet me and call me George! I painted my toes Leaf Him at the Altar Green! Soccer season started! My eldest son turned 16! (Yes, my baby tree frog is now a 16 year old young man with attitude the size of Antarctica…and he doesn’t want to learn to drive? WTF?) I mean, wow. Look how much you missed, Internet!

So pictured is my friend @JennChristman who attended my little Sexicanâ„¢ Birthday Soriee at Cantina Laredo right here in Little Rock. I’m actually beginning to feel a little bit like Norm from Cheers when I walk in now. The Sexicansâ„¢ all yell MEL! when they see me and before I sit down one of the waiters will have a pomegranate margarita with sugar on the rim sitting in front of me before I can snap my fingers. (Okay, maybe I’m not quite like Norm because I don’t remember an episode where Norm drank a margarita or got hugged by Sam every time he walked into the bar…)

The party was fab. I felt special. As everyone should on their *ahem* 28th birthday.

Here’s a couple of more pics to satisfy your voyeuristic desires. I know you INTERNET! One pic is never enough is it?

The muy caliente Sexicanâ„¢ pictured is none other than my pal Carlos. I also have a couple of pics with him wearing a tiara. I’ll spare his reputation by not posting them. The muy caliente chica is my friend Carla. We will not talk about the tongue thing. I have more pictures from this party of tongues….

the boys pictured are Wesley, and Omar. Two more boys attended the mostly Girl’s Night Out Partay: JFerg and Cmac. A good time was had by all.

Oh and look at my toes:
My friend JenB (not to be confused with JennC) took me to eat sushi and get a pedi for my bday. I am a lucky girl.

Oh and I found my first Four-Leaf Clover of the year yesterday!

So, welcome back to Mel-O-Drama. I’ve missed you Internet! I know you’ve missed me, too….right? (this is where you say, ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY!)

What’s been going on in your neck of the blogiverse?

(obviously we’re still having some technical difficulties with the blog. Old pics aren’t showing up, etc. We’re transferring over from blogger to wordpress so just hang in there…)

ack!

I didn’t blog yesterday! WTF, dude? My only excuse is that I didn’t get much sleep the night before and just flat out forgot. My bad.

I really wish I had something enlightened to share with you today, or a good story, but not really.

This week is British Soccer camp week. Those of you who are regular readers of my blog, know what a fan of British Soccer Camp I am… For the 1st time in 4 years we’re not hosting any coaches–which is a good thing, because when we do host, I tend to NEVER sleep. The lads are always entertaining. (and very easy on the eyes)

I hit the gym and the track yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. Did circuit room, abs, and walked 4 miles in about 45 minutes. I’m sore today. Feeling it big time. But I’m glad I went. I’m gonna blog over at Fat Chicks Running this afternoon about my time on the walking track. It’s pretty funny. I’m apparently a ‘rule breaker.’ I know–you’re shocked!

Ian has been in Dallas for a week watching his cousin play some kick ass soccer in a National Tournament. Taylor’s team is now in the finals. Am hoping to get some pics soon to post for ya soon.

That’s about all that’s going on here. Nothing witty or snappy today. I’m just too tired. Maybe I’ll be able to muster up funny for tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

What’s going on this week with you guys?

sorry ’bout that

I was down for the count yesterday with a 24 hour bug. Sigh. Fever, hoarking, chills, sleeping. That was my day.

But after 20 hours of shut eye, today I awoke bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. So I took Fishdog and Rader to Party City to shop for our Memorial Weekend Luau.

It’s gonna rock. If you’re in the area, stop by. Seriously. Slip-n-Slides, sprinklers, margaritas, and me in a Sarong. What could be better?

and the winner(s) is (are)

I’m sorry I haven’t been around for a couple of days. I swear, I had intended to post the winners earlier this week, but I got swallowed up in a time-warp-bubble.

Last week, I ran a lolcat caption contest because my damn cat got stuck in the drywall. If you haven’t read the story, read it here.

Okay, so we have a couple of winners. First of all, this one made me laugh out loud until I snorted. yes. I snort. What do you care?

Of course, it was my husband’s entry, therefore it doesn’t count. However, I had to give him kudos because it was awesome.

Fishdog, you win my heart. How’s that?

We have 2 REAL winners. ArkansasCyndi also made me snort with her entry. I must have a thing for insulation.

And Cholsted’s 6 year old daughter won me over with her comment.

Cyndi and Cholsted, email me at oatmellow@gmail.com and I’ll get your prizes to you!

I enjoyed all the entries, but I had to pick the winners based on my laugh-o-meter. (okay, and the whole 6 year old thing got me.) I enjoyed this so much, I think we’ll have another contest soon…
