pussycat, pussycat, I’ve got flowers

Yesterday was my Mom’s birthday, so El Jefe bought her some flowers…and while he was there, he got me some, too! Just because. As it should be.

After I took the picture, I had to play with my favorite photo apps because I have a sickness.

And speaking of pussycats…Clementine decided to sleep in the bed last night. That doesn’t happen often, as she’s usually on the hunt to kill things in the night.

Happy Friday y’all. It’s a beautiful day here, even if it’s hot as the 7th cave of Hell. (or so I’ve heard, I haven’t visited that cave, yet.)

Oh, and now that I’ve got some Tom Jones stuck in your head, feel free to toss your panties on the stage of life today.

do the humpty hump, do the humpty hump!

Hey y’all! It’s humpday! Woot!

My Bachelorette recap was posted at Hey Don’t Judge Me yesterday. Get thee over and read. It is pure joy…in a trashy sorta way. Also, there might be some panty-melting going on. Because damn that Arie is sexy when he kisses Emily. SEX. EE.

This weekend it will be just me and the dogs and I’m really looking forward to some quiet time and possibly some pool time somewhere. Or maybe me and the mutts will head to the lake… The boat is out of commission, but that doesn’t mean I can’t lie around on a floaty or on a lounge chair with a beer in my hand while the doggies frolic about like otters.

Besides…I need to work on my tan.

weekend update

There was a Hot Air Balloon festival in town this weekend…

 This balloon was Jefe’s favorite
a rare photograph of both of us…

This balloon was my favorite…of course. I love me some monkeys…

We tried to see the great evening take off on Saturday night…but it must have been too windy for the balloons to launch, so all we got to see was this:
I also went for a pedicure on Saturday, and Rader joined me again. It seems he really likes getting his toes did…
Yesterday I spent a lot of quality time with John Deere and ice cold beer. Even riding a lawn mower when it’s over 100 degrees outside is hard work!
So, how was your weekend? Hope it started off or ended with a bang!

From 12:00-2:00

Our furniture is being delivered today. Let us hope it’s closer to 12:00 than 2:00.

Oh wait. I still need to vacuum where the bed is going. I ran out of time this morning. So maybe I should be hoping it’s closer to 2:00 than 12:00…

Either way, YAY FURNITURE!

You know, I understand that these delivery dudes have to schedule multiple deliveries on a single day, but I find it so frustrating that I have to plan a 2 (ok, more likely 4) hour chunk out of my day to be there. It wasn’t free delivery…we’re paying these dudes to deliver and set up. So really? Please don’t make it a 4 hour wait time. You said 12-2…and I’m gonna hold you to it. Mmmmkay?

Let’s see…what else is going on….

Well it’s mother’s day weekend and it looks like the kids will be serving an awesome group of moms brunch on Sunday at the Partyhood. Aw yeah. I think they should wear uniforms and everything…. I believe there will be Bloody Marys and Mimosas involved in this affair, so we will be winning the Mothers of the Year award again. Because obviously, we are.

Clementine is missing Bobcat Greyskull. Well, she’s not “missing” his sneak attacks and his pouncing ninja moves, but she is obviously feeling his absence. She’s been sleeping with us every night, which is highly unusual for her. And she’s also not like other cats…when you roll over, she doesn’t jump up and move…she’s like a lump on a log. Dead weight. Warm and fuzzy dead weight…

See where Ruby and Clementine’s butts meet? That’s where my leg belongs….

It’s Thursday, bitches! The weekend is almost here. Let’s get our party on!

weekend update

Prom:

there was much last minute shopping, running around, some pork nachos and exhaustion. The kids had a great time and they looked gorgeous. So fun.
Sunday was a whirlwind of tux returns, grocery shopping, John Deere driving, and waiting for some bad weather that never showed. I would call this weekend a success.

Month of Mel 2012: Days 17, 18 & 19

St. Paddy’s Day came and went without one pinch. I did get a kiss or two, though. *wink* Being a redhead on an Irish Party Day really does have its advantages.

The boys and I celebrated Ian’s 18th birthday at the horse races on Friday. We had a great time. We all wore our hats, and they wore their “Charlie Sheen” shirts…and we picked horses, took pictures and laughed a lot.

Ian gave his new camera a good run for its money. We’ll see how the pictures turned out and if he has an eye for photography. He’s thinking about majoring in art in college and he’d like an emphasis in photography, so he better start practicing!

Speaking of photography, El Jefe got me some lenses for my iPhone. You can’t use them with the flash, but they take pretty great pics in natural light.

I’m digging the ladies in the fisheye lens…

I love taking pictures. I miss my SLR days, maybe one day, I’ll treat myself to a digital SLR and reteach myself all the manual photography stuff that I’ve long forgotten thanks to the easy digital point and shoot…and my iPhone point and shoot. haha.

Month of Mel 2012: Days 10, 11, 12

Studio 54 was a rockin’ good time.

Here is more photographic evidence.

I’m exhausted still, but wow, did I have a great time. I have the best friends and the best boyfriend ever. I love that everyone embraced the theme with gusto and went all in. And my friend Bell Bottoms? I don’t know how I got lucky enough to have her in my life, but I am so grateful for her.

My birthday is in 2 days… and my little Tree Frog’s birthday is Friday. My itty bitty baby boy is going to be 18 this week. Yes, I had him when I was 10. Thank you for noticing.

In other news, my Tree Frog is also now an official college student. He received his acceptance over the weekend. This is a huge week for us. I have, as yet, come to terms with the fact that my baby is a grown man. I may not survive it…

Month of Mel 2012: Day 9

Excitement is building for tomorrow night’s Disco Extravaganza! We will be decorating tonight. There will be a sparkly pedicure sometime tomorrow…and possibly the purchase of a white suit for El Jefe. Oh yeah, and then it’s gonna be ON.

Hopefully there will be some quality pictures that I can share with you here next week. If there aren’t, then you know the party was even better than expected.

Y’all have a great weekend! I know I’m going to….

Peace.

are you a Belieber? Tom Brady is…

I have to admit, I had a great time texting my friend the Godfodda pics of Tom Brady and making fun of the Pats. I was team Ravenclaw all the way, and we had mucho fun ribbing each other before the game.

Here’s a sample of the fun:

GodFodda: It is going to be awesome tomorrow watching the best QB in history go to another Super Bowl?

Me: Eli?

GF: He can’t wear his brother’s jock much less Mr. Brady’s.

Me:

GF: Now that’s funny. Untrue; but funny.

Then I shared a few more photos with him:

Tom Brady is a Belieber!

Tebow and Brady:  A Match Made in Heaven
Naturally, when we arrived at the GodFodda’s house to watch the game, we were both raring to go. I was decked out in my Purple and Black:
And he was all, “Go Pats.”
So when the Ravens blew it in the end (Bless that kicker’s heart) the GodFodda brought out some very special Tom Brady champagne to celebrate:
I drank it because it was made from the Tears of Tim Tebow…

FIRE! FIRE!

So I had two weeks off…and even though I did a lot of sleeping, I did other things, too.

El Jefe and I started building a firepit in our yard. We are using bricks that used to be walls at the entrance of my parents’ driveway. Multiple walls that were knocked down multiple times due to drunk drivers totally missing the giant curve in front of their house.

It’s kinda cool that we are making something new out of something old.

And even though it’s not finished, we did build a fire for New Years. Yeah this pit is gonna be awesome. And so will the patio we are going to build around it.

This is the area before we started.

First thing we had to do was collect the bricks. This really isn’t very easy, because they’re down by the pond and we have to pull the wagon through a marshy area before we pull it up the hill to the pit area. Also, the bricks are heavy. So before we used the tractor to pull them, we used Rader.

Then we employed Ruby to supervise.

C’mon baby! Light my FIRE!

While we’re prettying up the area, we decided to give Baby Bear some company. He always loved the ladies.
