When Christmas Attacks.

I kinda, sorta was attacked by Christmas this weekend and then I kinda, sorta attacked El Jefe with my Christmas spirit. I FORCED THE HOLIDAY UPON HIM. (but don’t kid yourself, he loved it.)

The purple tree is the Pimp Tree as requested by the boys. It’s actually really cool. I kinda love it a lot.

And then there is my personal favorite, the Flamingo Tree.

Here’s the creepy stalker outside view:

Oh, and remember my monkeys and their fire? Well now they are joined by Evil Monkey and Mr. and Mrs. Claus. It’s gonna be a very warm and merry Christmas for them this year. No matter what their faces say, they are really happy on their inside parts.

Next up: Griswold lights.

a pimpin’ weekend

Tonight, El Jefe and I will be touring the Rock Town Distillery which we are both very much looking forward to. It’s a booze tour! With booze made in Little Rock! <–this is the stuff awesome is made of.

Then tomorrow we are beginning our decorating extravaganza. First, we are heading to Goodwill for our holiday sweater/sweatshirt purchase, then we are headed to Garden Ridge, the mecca of all things holiday and we’re picking up my new favorite Christmas Trees.

I’ve always wanted a Hot Pink tree. I’m gonna totally go all FLAMINGO on it and make it awesome.

Once I decided to go FABULOUS or go home, I asked all the mens in my house what they thought, and if the hot pink would automatically revoke their man card.

Ian answered “Not if we get a purple tree, too. Purple is for pimps and a pimp’s man card can never be revoked.”

So we will be having a pimp tree as well. I’m thinking an animal print skirt, maybe some peacock feathers and a black feather boa as garland? Ian has already found some gold ‘disco ball’ ornaments that we’re going to add. I think a Pimpin’ Christmas sounds fantastic. Don’t you? I’ll be sure and post pics next week.

I just lost my nomination for Mother of the Century

I have been derelict in my duties as a mother. I have failed my children. HORRIBLY. I may not be able to recover my Mother of the year decade century ALL THE YEARS  x  = MELF tiara. (it was very sparkly.)

When my kid put on this get up over the weekend, immediately El Jefe and I started laughing and saying “Shitter’s full!”

And he didn’t get the reference.

OMG. What have I done?

Okay, so it’s a cape and not a robe…and there’s not a cigar in sight, but still…c’mon! That’s funny stuff right there…

And sadly the funny was lost on my son, because I have failed him. I haven’t made it a holiday tradition of watching Christmas Vacation OVER AND OVER AND OVER every year like I should have.

That ends this week… It’s on, boys. I will regain my tiara and you will deliriously happy with your forced entertainment of the holiday season.

sick and wet. and sick of being wet.

I’ve been under the weather since Wednesday evening. I left work early on Thursday and pretty much slept through Friday. Felt great on Saturday, so naturally, I over did it by working outside then going to a holiday soiree…which means I barely got out of bed yesterday. It was totally worth it, btw…

Now, part of that was sheer laziness. It was a gloomy, cold, rainy day. Okay, all of it was laziness. Fine. You caught me.

Today it’s still gloomy and rainy…I’m sure that the clouds are trying to RAIN ALL THE RAINS because the forecast in the immediate future is wet, wet, and wet.

Fine. It’s wet. I get it. So I went from wearing these boots on Saturday night:

To these boots today. Hmmm. Can you wear fishnets with duck boots?

break over.

Trinity likes wearing my Sock Monkey hat. As she should. So Thanksgiving was nice. The food was yummy and the drama was minimal. (IT IS A MIRACLE!) Check it out. I had some Thanksgiving Hammock Time…

Not pictured: Red Wine.

I didn’t have the boys this Turkey Day, so at their request on Wednesday night, we had breakfast for dinner as our Thanksgiving celebration. It was very tasty, if I do say so myself.

Friday, El Jefe and I headed to Birdrunner’s house to watch the game. I’m sorry our hogs lost, but the fact that the only two teams that beat them were both #1 at the time, makes me quite proud to be a Razorback.

Saturday it RAINED ALL THE RAIN. And I stayed inside and did ALL THE ORGANIZING EVER. And laundry.El Jefe and I also embarked on a Dollhouse marathon…I had only seen 3 of the episodes when it originally aired. OMG that show is amazing.

Sunday, El Jefe and I continued the Dollhouse marathon instead of the other stuffs we had planned to do. We seriously didn’t move from the big couch (aka the bed) and we watched all of season 2 until it was over.

And then we had ALL THE SADS because that show was amazing. Why do all the good shows get cancelled?

Hope your Thanksgiving weekend was lovely.

a good time was had by all

This was a fabulous holiday weekend. Sadly, the party barge is still out of commission so we were unable to spend the weekend on the lake. However, we made the best of it…

Saturday morning, El Jefe and I went to the Argenta Foodie Fest which was not at all what we expected. It was more of a Farmer’s Market with restaurants. So we blew that Popsicle stand and headed to Big Whiskey’s where we met Laura, Ellis and the Godfather for lunch and Bloody Mary’s. Then I went home and took a LONG nap. LOOOOOONG nap. Then Jefe and I embarked on a LOVE BITES marathon on Hulu. This show is brilliant and funny as hell. If you haven’t watched it yet, get thee to hulu.com and make it so. Because it really is fantastic.
Sunday I cleaned my room, which you may think should have only taken a little while, but sadly it took all day because I have a condition known as Flat Surface Syndrome. If there’s a flat surface, I’m gonna put something on it. Yes, I admit it, I have a clutter problem. Also, I’m lazy. So I fired up SPORTS NIGHT on Netflix (one of the best shows ever) and watched 12 episodes while I cleaned and de-cluttered.
I had an audience too…
please note the bed is made…I mean, I know it’s covered up with crap but at least it’s made…
Then it was yard work time. The Compound was in dire need of a good mowing and raking. I got to play on the John Deere while Jefe sweated his ass off raking. 🙂 But Sunday morning we switched roles… Note to self: playing on the John Deere is totally funner than raking.

When I started working outside, Clementine and Ruby decided to pay Baby Bear a visit…

And finally, yesterday was a great pool party with some of the best people on earth. I was exhausted from all the fun, so I took a little nap…

How was your weekend?

Happy Wedding Day Tony and GiGi!

My ex-BIL (but still my brother in every sense of the word) and my dear friend GiGi (and about to be officially my sister) are tying the knot today in Florida. It’s just them and their kids in a small ceremony on the beach (as it should be). They’ve been together for what seems like forever and it’s about time Tony makes an honest woman out of her! Love you guys and I wish you many, many years of happiness!

And to the rest of you in the Interwebiverse…Have a great holiday weekend (US side) or just a great weekend in general. Be safe. Have fun. Live long and prosper. Hi ho Silver AWAY!

4 days in 10 seconds [estimated]

  • Friday was unfun.
  • Saturday was a blast. Good friends and food and lots of fun.
  • Sunday stranded on the lake with a dead battery with the wind whipping us all over the water like we were Forrest Gump and Lt. Dan.
  • Jumping said dead battery by holding two boats together in the mad wind and choppy water.
  • Monday: Sore muscles from holding two boats together.
  • Yardwork. John Deere Dreams.
  • NEAR FATAL Spider bite on pinky finger by a stupid (now dead) spider that took up residence in my gardening glove.
  • Hanging with Birdrunner by the pool.
  • Bed early. Slept til 1:00. Up til 4:00.
  • Drinking coffee like it’s my lifeblood.

How was your holiday?

2011: Month of Mel; Day of St. Patrick

Are ye wearin’ yer green today, lads and lassies?

I haven’t started looking for my four-leaf clovers yet, but I’m thinking today might be the perfect day to start! You know I’ll find one if I try…

Today is going to be a banner day! I’m wearing my green dress and pretending to be Irish all day… You know what that means, right?

That’s right! I pretend to be Irish and you get to kiss me! Lucky you!

I’m also going to listen to some of my favorite Irish bands today: The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Elvis Costello (English born, Irish ancestory. and I heart him), Sinead O’Connor, The Cranberries, Thin Lizzy… Firing up my Pandora station as we speak!

And tonight, when I get home, I think I’ll have to watch P.S. I Love You one more time. Sigh.

Here’s some links to some of my favorite scenes from that movie:

Galway Girl

I Love You til the End

And this song is my current ringtone:

2011 Day the 2nd

The day the dynamic duo did DC…

Okay, so maybe we weren’t so dynamic. And maybe we only walked around DC for a couple of hours…work with me here!

It was overcast and rainy and slightly cold. DC wasn’t crowded, so we had no problems driving around (aside from a few Google Map misdirects) and parking was easy-peasy.

We decided to go visit Jefferson first since neither of us had done that on prior trips. Jefferson’s a big dude wearing a fur-lined pimp coat. I would NOT mess with him in a dark alley…just sayin’.

See how he towers over El Jefe? and in a PIMP COAT. Dude. He was rockin’ the presidency in style, yo.

We checked out the Washington Monument from afar…

Then went to pay Obama a visit to say thanks for being awesome. He wasn’t home.

Then we checked out the surrounding area, had a beer at The Laughing Man Tavern and dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill

And a good time was had by both.
