mehday

I’m all meh today. Tuesday is mehday. Meh. Bleh. Blah.

I went home feeling like I was gonna hurl yesterday, had a headache all day and night and still had a headache this morning. So I took a sick day to try to get over the mehday.

Meh.

The good news is, my Bachelorette recap is live at HDJM. I can’t believe I actually like Emily and the 3 guys she’s taken to the end. That just doesn’t happen. Usually at this point, I barely like any of them, much less all of them.

Oh, check this weird flower-vine-weed-whatever out. Can anyone identify it for me? It’s growing around our pond and it’s pretty cool looking, for an alien. Yeah, I kinda think it’s an alien.

The Prodigal Blogger Returns

Yeah, I missed you too, but not enough to pull out my computer and let you know. Sorry about that. It’s been a very hectic 10 days and I’ve been exhausted. I was on some awesome pain meds for a few days that probably would have made for some fantastic blogs, but luckily for me, they also made me too tired to try. So I’ve been spared the humiliation of Drugged Blogging and sadly, you’ve been denied the awesome it could have been. Maybe next time.

I did finally get The Bachelor Episode 6 (last week’s episode) recap up Monday and Episode 7 was posted last night, so if you haven’t already, please go read the crazy.

What’s been going on? Well mostly sleeping. I did get out for a margarita last Thursday which was fun, I went Disco Diva Shopping with Robyn for an exclusive (are you on the list?) Studio 54 event coming up in March, it snowed for about 2 hours on Monday and was really pretty until it turned to rain, Rader took the entrance exam at Catholic High, we went to see Safe House which was action packed and awesome, but sadly Ryan Reynolds wore a shirt, and El Jefe and I enjoyed a lovely steak dinner for Valentine’s day. Look at my pretty roses and orchid:

I’m settling back into a groove, and I hope to get back to more regular blogging…because we have the Month of Mel coming up in just two weeks! Are y’all ready?

sick and wet. and sick of being wet.

I’ve been under the weather since Wednesday evening. I left work early on Thursday and pretty much slept through Friday. Felt great on Saturday, so naturally, I over did it by working outside then going to a holiday soiree…which means I barely got out of bed yesterday. It was totally worth it, btw…

Now, part of that was sheer laziness. It was a gloomy, cold, rainy day. Okay, all of it was laziness. Fine. You caught me.

Today it’s still gloomy and rainy…I’m sure that the clouds are trying to RAIN ALL THE RAINS because the forecast in the immediate future is wet, wet, and wet.

Fine. It’s wet. I get it. So I went from wearing these boots on Saturday night:

To these boots today. Hmmm. Can you wear fishnets with duck boots?

flying high

I’m fighting a sinus infection. It’s my fault. I was so excited the temperature was no longer SATAN LIVES HERE that I immediately opened the windows to sleep.

And wow. I’ve been sleeping really well. BUT, the side effect of a good night’s sleep with the windows open seems to be a massive amount of snot.

So I’m medicated. After last night’s shot of Nyquil with a beer back, I actually felt a lot better today. But, I went ahead and popped a little red pill to help things along, and now my head feels like a balloon…

Also, I have to take notes in a meeting this morning and that could be really interesting. My train of thought is a little off the tracks right now.

vertical.

I know people say that men are big ol’ babies when it comes to being sick and that women just do what needs to be done no matter how sick they are…

Yeah. That doesn’t really apply to me. I mean, it did when the kids were little, but now? No way. When I’m sick, the world stops turning. (As it should when you’re the Empress) I need to be babied and sadly, I also need to be left alone. Pretty much, you’re screwed no matter what you do… But trust me, it’s always better to do something than nothing at all. Yes. I know. I’m not right, but y’all all love me just the way I am…

What started out as a head cold, ended up as attempted murder by my inside parts. I don’t know if I had a stomach bug or a bad reaction to cold meds, but let me just say, Death WOULD HAVE BEEN WELCOME. <– too dramatic? I DON'T THINK SO.

Anyway, after a day of near death experiences, napping, and lots of Words With Friends I am all better now. I’m vertical. I’ve had coffee. I’m no longer wishing for death. I think we can call today a win.

2011: Month of Mel: you be illin’

not feeling so swell today. So enjoy this trailer for the remake of the movie ARTHUR. I loved the original and now that Russell Brand is in the remake, I know I’m gonna love it, too.

what a girl DOESN’T want to come home to find

This is my baby, Mac. She apparently isn’t feeling well. And it must be contagious because I’m not feeling well now, too. Sigh.
No, this is not what a girl wants to come home to find. I’m going to make a list of things that I would much rather come home to, and maybe tonight when I get home, one (or more of them) will be there.
  • Matt Damon in my bed
  • Matt Damon naked vaccumming my house
  • Anyone vaccumming my house fully clothed
  • A chilled (bottomless) bottle of wine in the hand of my cabana boy as I walk in the door to my already cleaned house.
  • A million dollars and Matt Damon lying naked in the middle of it.
  • A million dollars (Matt Damon optional)
  • A brand new swimming oasis in my backyard with an oasis house and cabana boy.
  • A disco ball hanging from my living room and the Geico Gecko waiting to dance. Or Matt Damon.
  • A fully cooked meal served to me by Matt Damon wearing my Flamingo apron in my already clean house.
  • A computer that works…sitting on Matt Damon’s lap.

Yeah, I’m thinking anything on this list would be much more fun to come home to find. Don’t you agree?

john cusack marathon

So this feeling lousy thing comes with benefits. I found a movie channel yesterday that was running non-stop John Cusack movies.

Le Sigh.

My heart; she was happy.

Would you believe I never saw Say Anything until last night? Yup. It’s true. I always knew the line “I gave her my heart; she gave me a pen.” was from that movie, but I never got it. And then I saw it last night and totally got it.

I also watched One Crazy Summer w/ Cusack and Demi Moore. It was always a fave of mine, but it doesn’t even remotely hold a candle to my very favorite Cusack movie of all time.

Better Off Dead

I never get tired of spouting “I want my $2.” just to see who gets it.

I’m feeling a little better today, still kinda weak and stuffy. Would like to stay in bed with John Cusack for another day, but it’s not gonna happen. I have to earn my $2.

this is me on drugs

Yeah, the weather has done a number on me and I finally caught my winter cold. It was in the 70s here over the weekend. I was wearing shorts for crying out loud! Yesterday it was a little cold, but today? It’s freezing and raining with a chance of sleet later tonight. Seriously.

Welcome to Arkansas. If you don’t like the weather, just stick around for a few minutes, cuz it will change.

This is one of many reasons I want to move to the beach.

I slept off and on yesterday and all night last night thinking the rest might help hurry the bug along, but no dice. I felt just as bad this morning. I went to work with the intention of working a couple extra hours to make up for T-giving but nope…I came home at normal time because I couldn’t hold my head up any longer. Hate it when that happens.

Hope y’all don’t catch my virus through the internetz…but just in case, may I suggest you start taking some Zicam?

Peace, y’all.

fever, football, ceiling fans, and Polanski

I’m at home with a feverish kid today. Have my fingers crossed it’s just a fever bug and not the *whispers* flu. He seems to be okay right now, so maybe it’s just a 24 hour thing…though it did start yesterday when he had a headache that was making him cry.

Sigh.

Don’t you hate it when your babies are sick?

I cleaned off my desk yesterday, my friend Chris came over and installed a ceiling fan for me and I actually got the living room and dining room cleaned.

I also made some damn good chili and watched a lot of football. I love a good rainy Sunday.

Oh, and I caught up on some dvr’d shows. Am I the only one who thinks this season of Hell’s Kitchen sucks? I mean, there’s one dude I like, but none of them seem to be very good chefs and we’re down to the final four? WTF? Also, I was sad Louise got the boot in Project Runway…I liked her.

Today I blogged at Fictionistas about this Roman Polanski bullshit…and I started a list of real people who deserve our admiration. Pop over and add to the discussion.

Did you have a productive weekend? Tell me all about it.
