Let’s Groove Tonight

Antibiotic eyedrops AHOY! Lovin’ the fact that my eye doesn’t feel like a fat marshmallow anymore. SWEEEEET!

Last night was not our typical girls night out…we had our monthly Bunko game…the theme was Black Tie Bunko (which is funny, cuz my BFF Maria Geraci has a book called BUNCO BABES GONE WILD and they host a fundraiser called Black Tie Bunco…if you haven’t read it yet, SHAME ON YOU. Order it NOW!) Anyway, I wore black and white and had a black skull tie on…a couple of girls wore beautiful formal gowns. A couple wore suits. All in all it as a good time.

Tonight, I’m introducing my children to the legendary band EARTH, WIND AND FIRE. It’s gonna be awesome.

this, that and a little more

I blogged over at Fictionistas today about movies I’m looking forward to seeing. Pop by and say hi.

Got my new Pedi color on Friday….I love my turquoise!

Friday night we weathered some stormy weather and watched a couple of movies at the hacienda. I thought Saturday was going to be stormy all day too, but by 11:00, the storms had moved on and the sky was the brightest, cleanest blue I’d ever seen. I love a good spring rain. So while Rader was at his chess tournament, Ian and I looked for 4-leaf clovers and jumped on a trampoline.

My friend Cmac stopped by with pizza and we all went to see Kick-Ass the movie. I wasn’t looking forward to it…but let me just say, that movie was damn kick ass. Seriously. What a surprise it was! It’s rated R for language and pretty graphic violence (that surprised me. It was almost too much for me…) The movie was smart and funny and I LOL’d a lot. I highly recommend it.

Sunday was a patio & margarita day with the girls…& grilled chicken/biscuits at night. I also jumped on the trampoline some more. I think everyone should jump on a trampoline! It ended up being a near perfect weekend.

Today I’m at work but I’m kinda hoping that when I’m done around 1:00, that I can maybe sneak over to my friend Robyn’s house and lay out by her pool. I don’t wanna swim…just soak up some rays. What do you say, Robyn? *sparkle* I can’t go on being pasty anymore…

Did y’all have a good weekend? Do anything fun?

let it rain

Storms are moving in and hopefully will be washing away all this pollen. This will be our first stormy weather in the new casa for me and the boys. Should be interesting. And fun. I’m in the mood for some pissed off weather. Sometimes nothing is better than a good spring storm.

Since we’re working on cutting costs, we have a digital converter box for the TV so we can watch local stations. I’m obviously converter-box impaired because I can’t get the thing hooked up. I have never had this problem before! I read directions. I read diagrams. I try to do just as I’m instructed. SO WHY CAN’T I HOOK THE STUPID THING UP? Hoping my bro will have better luck with it.

Think we’re going to a movie this weekend. Ian wants to see Kick Ass so I’m sure that’s what I’ll be forced to endure watching tomorrow. Unless I can talk him into seeing Date Night. I mean, it’s Tina Fey and Steve Carrell. How could we go wrong with that???

any big plans this weekend?

the weekend in review

House: Cleaned
Laundry: Unwashed
Boxes: half unpacked
Taxes: work in progress
Weather: Un-freaking-believably Awesome
Friends: Luckiest girl in the world
Easter: Juciest turkey ever and a trampoline

This was a bit of an emotional weekend. Many of you know that Fishdog and I have been separated for almost a year. (We’re still great friends and I have no desire to air my private business in this blog, but since I’m moving, etc. I thought I’d let y’all know the circumstances. /divorcetalk) This weekend, I started moving into the new bachelorette pad. It’s a tiny little cottage that I’ve been cleaning, painting, and sweating over for the past 3 months. (Not quite sure how I’m gonna share 1 bathroom with 2 teen boys, but we’ll figure it out…) The move is mostly complete, now I’ve just got to finish unpacking and move all the personal items over, like clothing.

The clothing thing for me is a difficult task because I need to go through it all. I’ve lost enough weight that most of my clothing doesn’t fit anymore. This is a great problem to have…except that since I’m still only working part time, I’m not going to be spending any money on new clothes. But this weekend, I got lucky…it just so happens that one of my BFFs has been losing weight, too. And it just so happens that she can no longer wear a ton of her clothing…and it just so happens that we’re both hour glass shaped…and it just so happens that the clothes she’s undergrown are the right size for me!

I think I inherited 12 new dresses! OMG. And they’re all so damn cute! Just like me! I have a whole new wardrobe!! and a new house! and a new attitude! and… and I’m all out of new…

Anyway, this is a new beginning for me. A new phase in my life and I’m ready to take it on…and now I can do it in style thanks to my Fairy Clothing Godmother…

It’s a Cotton Pickin’ birthday!

Okay, Internet. Please say Happy Birthday to my daddy, Cotton. (you can also call him Slick Mac) and to my beautiful rock-awesome niece Taylor. Happy 15th!!

This weekend was a blur. I was a busy girl. Soccer Mom duties Saturday morning, seeing my bro-in-law!, lunch with my faves Saturday afternoon. A margarita before heading to the Electric Cowboy with my friend Jenn to see the finals of the Arkansas’ Funniest Person contest. (Congrats to Eric Counts! Job well done, sir!) Then afterward….cheese fries, beer, new friends, From Dusk til Dawn (which I had never seen before…which seemed to shock the folks because how can I write vampire books but not watch vampire movies?)

Yesterday I napped a wee bit, painted a wee bit, and watched stupid, freaking-farking Duke beat Baylor. I hate that Baylor choked. (I’m actually talking about why I hate Duke over at Fictionistas today. Check it out when you get a chance…)

How was your weekend, Internet? Were you productive or a slug? And is there anyone out there with a NCAA bracket that’s still alive?

whatever

It’s Monday. I’m tired. I spent the weekend deep cleaning and all I want to do now is curl up in a ball and sleep.

I blogged over at Fictionista’s today about McDonald’s being a bully. Check it out.

Saints beat Vikes last night. It was a helluva game.

Maybe I’ll have more to say tomorrow. Maybe not. Check back then to find out.

Mel-O-Funny; Mel-O-Music; MEL-O-FRIDAY!

Today’s Doonesbury cracked me up. Here’s a link to the daily strip if you can’t read it on my blog.
I’m so happy it’s Friday. I’ve been looking forward to tonight for a very long time. Two of my favorite bands will be playing at the Verizon Arena…and I’m going to be there with one of my favorite people! It’s gonna be a good time.
Theory of a Deadman: I have two of their albums, and I will freely admit that I am a repeat offender when it comes to this band. I actually work out to them a lot. Plus I always include them in my playlists. I heart them. Here’s the video BY THE WAY. He’s got a great voice.

The other band that will be there is Daughtry! I am so stoked about seeing them live. Actually, the year Chris Daughtry didn’t win American Idol is the year I stopped watching that show. Here’s the video for LIFE AFTER YOU

Now, if I could just figure out what I’m going to wear. I know I’ll be cute…just how cute?

Big plans this weekend? Last minute shopping, baking, partying?

despite the odds

I’m in a great mood today, even though the odds were totally stacked against me.

Monday’s are always difficult at Chez Francis. I The boys don’t wanna get out of bed and once they’re actually upright, they never wanna get moving.

Today was greeted with an extra special batch of ARE YOU KIDDING ME when my almost 16 year old started harrassing my almost 12 year old for the 10 bucks he charged his brother to play with his Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Seriously, d00d? You’re damn near 16. Stop being such a grade A butthead. You haven’t messed with those cards in 2 years and the only reason you’re being a tool about it now is because your little brother wants them.

Yes, I just called my kid a tool. Doesn’t mean I don’t love him, just means he’s a teenager and frankly, they’re all tools at one point or another.

Still, I feel great today. I’m in a good place mentally (though I’ve slacked off on my exercise lately and I’m starting to feel it) and even though Christmas really isn’t my favorite time of year (long story) I’m beginning to feel a slight tingle of holiday spirit. Not sure I’m tingly enough to listen to Christmas music, but maybe that’s not too far away.

I wrote a little bit this weekend on a new series proposal that I’m actually really excited about. Did some plotting with the Amazing Tia Maria last night and she helped me figure out why I was stuck. Now I can unstick myself and move forward.

We had another movie day yesterday. Watched The Proposal and Doubt. Completely different movies, but very good. I actually enjoyed The Proposal more than I thought I would, BUT they missed some really good opportunities to increase the sexual tension and the love story. However, I laughed out loud several times and got to look at Ryan Reynolds for two hours. All in all I would call it a WIN.

I’m ready to watch Love Actually which is one of my favorite movies of all time. And just because I’m in a great mood, I’m going to link my favorite scene from that movie.

“Enough. Enough now.”
