It’s been 15 days…

And I’ve done some form of exercise 12/15 days.

For me, this is quite an accomplishment. Seriously.

I realized this morning, as I was getting dressed, that I feel good. Like, REALLY good. And it’s nice to look in the mirror and not hate your body. Because honestly, there is nothing healthy about hate. I used to be obsessed with fixing my body. OMG. My body is not broken! I’m not broken!

There is nothing healthy about obsession, either.

Anyway, back to my realization.

In the not-so-distant past, I worked out to see exterior results. I NEEDED to hear people tell me I looked good. I needed the compliments and to be noticed for all my hard work. But this time, it’s different. I’m finding a beautiful sense of satisfaction on the inside. Knowing I’m working hard and feeling great is all the reward I need right now. I’m doing this for me. I like the compliments, but I don’t NEED them.

There is so much freedom in knowing I’m doing this for myself.

And that’s why, this journey is going to be different from my journeys in the past. I am the only motivation I need.

But you can still tell me I look good. 😉

f6ad3de4f8145a0e096d7f542d5ade93Happy Friday, Bitches! I have Bunko tonight, and I’m totally stoked because I haven’t seen my Babes in a while. You guys have a great weekend, and I’ll see you on Monday.

Roll those sixes with the angels, Joan!

Today, we celebrate the life of fellow Bunko Babe who was taken from this life way too suddenly.

My fellow Pisces, Liberal, Writer, Bunko Babe, and Friend. We’re gonna miss you hard, Joan Duffy. I’m definitely going to miss the sharp witted emails you would send just when I needed a laugh. You’re a rockstar…and you’re gonna rule the roost in the after life.

Love you. The earth already misses your presence.

what the?

So let me ask you a quershtchen.

How is it possible that this tall-ass, long-haired hippy -like 13 year old rocking the 70s sweat band…

is the same kid rocking the pudgy 4th grade catholic school look in this picture?

These 2 pics are 4 years apart. Crazazy, huh?

I would gladly share a recent pic of Ian to compare the difference, but he isn’t a big fan of the camera. You’d think he was 17 or something. (big eye roll)

I have Bunko at my house on Friday night. Should be interesting as I’ve not had more than 2 people at a time over simultaneously. My house is rather small cozy. I’m looking forward to hosting the shindig though…

I’m hopefully also looking forward to Saturday… we will find out tomorrow if our tentative plans are a go. Everyone keep your fingers crossed because we need more of these types of pics–from this year:
I’m going to miss you tonight, Wine Wednesday. I have too much to do and no time to do it… We’ll see you next week!

blinded by the lake…

First off, I’d like to thank everyone for the kind text messages and emails checking to make sure that we were not where the flash flooding occured. We were about an hour away, and we were in a house on a hill. There was no flooding whatsoever in our area. What happened at the Albert Pike Campground was a terrible tragedy. A flash flood at 5:30 A.M. in a remote area is just not something anyone can prepare for. I’m so thankful we are all safe and alive. My heartfelt prayers go to the families and friends who lost someone in the flood.
Now onto today’s blog…
The weekend was fabulous except for 1 tiny little glitch… My beautiful red glasses are now being worn by some stylish fish in Lake Ouachita.
Yeah. You know something like that had to happen. Of course, I didn’t have any contacts with me (had an eye infection a few weeks ago, remember? I’m not wearing those contacts again until I get new ones…) And of course, I didn’t bring an extra pair of glasses, cuz why would I? I’ve been wearing my glasses on the lake for 30+ years…I’ve never lost them before! Why would I lose them now?
Well, because sometimes Karma likes to have a little fun with a girl, that’s why. But it’s all good. It all worked out. And in the grand scheme of things, this was small potatoes compared to what could have happened. So, I just laughed and cried a little…drank a little, borrowed my friend’s extra pair of glasses (which were surprisingly close to my prescription) and moved on.
Here is the last picture ever taken of me and my awesome glasses. May they swim in peace…

I drove and parked the party barge like a champ. Got a little sun. Had some yummy food. Enjoyed several flavors of Ring Pops. And had a fantastic time with 6 7 (Allana left a little early so she isn’t pictured here) women who I’m lucky to call my friends. Life is good.

Let’s Groove Tonight

Antibiotic eyedrops AHOY! Lovin’ the fact that my eye doesn’t feel like a fat marshmallow anymore. SWEEEEET!

Last night was not our typical girls night out…we had our monthly Bunko game…the theme was Black Tie Bunko (which is funny, cuz my BFF Maria Geraci has a book called BUNCO BABES GONE WILD and they host a fundraiser called Black Tie Bunco…if you haven’t read it yet, SHAME ON YOU. Order it NOW!) Anyway, I wore black and white and had a black skull tie on…a couple of girls wore beautiful formal gowns. A couple wore suits. All in all it as a good time.

Tonight, I’m introducing my children to the legendary band EARTH, WIND AND FIRE. It’s gonna be awesome.

you have one job today…ONLY ONE

GIRLS GONE WILD…BUNCO STYLE

Have you bought BUNCO BABES GONE WILD yet? Why not? It ships tomorrow, so get off your butt and buy yourself a couple of copies…b/c believe me, this story is so good, you’re gonna wanna share it.

Georgia Meyer needs some time to think-and what better place to get her head on straight than Whispering Bay, Florida, in the company of her sister Frida and her sister’s Bunco-playing friends, aka the Bunco Babes? Georgia’s boyfriend-and boss-Spencer Moody made a slight miscalculation in the romance department and gave her a calculator instead of an engagement ring. So she needs some sisterly advice, in between rolling dice and drinking frozen margaritas, as to her next move.

While considering subtracting Spencer from her life, Georgia meets the very handsome Dave Hernandez. Unfortunately when a Bunco night gets a little out of hand, Georgia reveals more of herself to Dave than she intended. Now, as she helps the Babes prepare for a Bunco Black Tie fundraiser, she needs to search her heart-and keep her shirt on-long enough to decide if a love affair with Dave might be a dream come true.

Before I get to today’s blog, I just want to say, that yesterday I received a lovely shipment of BUNCO BABES TELL ALL by Maria Geraci and the book looks amazing in person. I love it. Have you received yours yet? Have you bought your copy yet? Don’t make me pick up my bat…

Now onto today’s regularly scheduled blog topic. And by ‘regularly scheduled’ I mean whatever I decided to write about 5 minutes ago. Because that’s just how I roll…

See this blurry picture of a four-leaf clover? I took that pic the other day after I finished my walk. Then I plucked that bad boy and now it’s taped to my laptop.

When I was a kid, I had a knack for finding four-leaf clovers. Actually, I wouldn’t even call it a knack. It was more like I’d look down and A FOUR-LEAF CLOVER WOULD START JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND SAY ‘HEY LOOK AT ME!’ and I would.

That’s pretty much what happened Monday when I found this one. I was just finishing my walk, and was about to go up my driveway when I looked down and there it was.

As a kid (okay and as an adult, too) I would spend hours entertaining myself by hunting for four-leaf clovers. One afternoon, I found a record number of 12. That must have been my luckiest day ever–funny I don’t remember anything else special happening that day.

Did you ever hunt for four-leaf clovers? I’ll admit it, since I found this one on Monday, I’ve been wishing the rain would go away so I could get back out in my yard and look for more. They never grow alone…

Happy Thursday everyone!
