pussycat, pussycat, I’ve got flowers

Yesterday was my Mom’s birthday, so El Jefe bought her some flowers…and while he was there, he got me some, too! Just because. As it should be.

After I took the picture, I had to play with my favorite photo apps because I have a sickness.

And speaking of pussycats…Clementine decided to sleep in the bed last night. That doesn’t happen often, as she’s usually on the hunt to kill things in the night.

Happy Friday y’all. It’s a beautiful day here, even if it’s hot as the 7th cave of Hell. (or so I’ve heard, I haven’t visited that cave, yet.)

Oh, and now that I’ve got some Tom Jones stuck in your head, feel free to toss your panties on the stage of life today.

do the humpty hump, do the humpty hump!

Hey y’all! It’s humpday! Woot!

My Bachelorette recap was posted at Hey Don’t Judge Me yesterday. Get thee over and read. It is pure joy…in a trashy sorta way. Also, there might be some panty-melting going on. Because damn that Arie is sexy when he kisses Emily. SEX. EE.

This weekend it will be just me and the dogs and I’m really looking forward to some quiet time and possibly some pool time somewhere. Or maybe me and the mutts will head to the lake… The boat is out of commission, but that doesn’t mean I can’t lie around on a floaty or on a lounge chair with a beer in my hand while the doggies frolic about like otters.

Besides…I need to work on my tan.

weekend update

There was a Hot Air Balloon festival in town this weekend…

 This balloon was Jefe’s favorite
a rare photograph of both of us…

This balloon was my favorite…of course. I love me some monkeys…

We tried to see the great evening take off on Saturday night…but it must have been too windy for the balloons to launch, so all we got to see was this:
I also went for a pedicure on Saturday, and Rader joined me again. It seems he really likes getting his toes did…
Yesterday I spent a lot of quality time with John Deere and ice cold beer. Even riding a lawn mower when it’s over 100 degrees outside is hard work!
So, how was your weekend? Hope it started off or ended with a bang!

red couches are awesome and a happy ending

I love our new couch! It’s comfy, cozy and RED! I had to cover it up this morning because when I got home yesterday after work, Ruby had decided she could, in fact, jump up on the couch. It’s funny that when we’re home, how her legs suddenly stop working and she has to beg us for help. Our help is in the form of a Harry Potter pillow on the floor. “Get on your pillow, Ruby.” and she does. But when no one is at home, she thinks the couch is her domain. Hmph.

Speaking of pet domains…

The bed is so high off the ground that only Clementine can jump up. Ruby struggles even with her step-stool and Trin Trin just can’t jump that high anymore. Which leads me to a story of love and trust:

Once upon a time, about 18 months ago, an awesome Red-head and an awesome Jefe started dating. Jefe had two dogs, one who loved the red-head without question, and the other who could only look at the red-head if Jefe was in the room. And even then, it was with a side glance. There was no trust between this dog and the red-head.

Time passed and the dog started allowing the red-head to feed her snacks and occasionally let her outside. Eventually Jefe and the dog moved to Arkansas, and the dog slowly warmed up the the red-head and her two boys. But still, there wasn’t much love or trust–just appreciation for land and treats.

Several more months pass, and the dog seems to have developed a love for the red-head. Well, maybe not love, but a strong like–an affection. The dog greets the red-head with excitement when she comes home for work and sleeps next to her on the bed in the mornings. The red-head is very pleased with the progress as this dog is very loving and loyal to her people. Well her Person. The red-head is starting to feel a little bit like she belongs to the dog, even if only on the periphery.

Which brings us to today, when the dog wanted on the bed (see above). The dog asked the red-head for help by nosing her leg and panting. The dog then allowed the red-head to lift her onto the bed without a hesitation or a growl.

The red-head now believes she may actually be considered one of the dog’s people. Not completely, but there is at least love and trust now. The Red-Head is very happy.

I love happy endings, don’t you? (ahem…c’mon guys! This is a PG-13 blog. Sorta.)

Happy Friday, bitches! And to all the awesome moms out there, enjoy your weekend!

weekend update

Prom:

there was much last minute shopping, running around, some pork nachos and exhaustion. The kids had a great time and they looked gorgeous. So fun.
Sunday was a whirlwind of tux returns, grocery shopping, John Deere driving, and waiting for some bad weather that never showed. I would call this weekend a success.

oh it’s a good friday indeed.

Bobcat Greyskull loves this azalea bush because of the butterflies. He’s the master of butterfly attacks and I try to be their protector, but sadly, he still manages to get one or two.

Clementine is hard core. Butterflies are for babies. She laughs at them. Yesterday, apparently she brought El Jefe a cardinal. I saw a giant crow in the field today and wondered where Clementine was hiding. I know she was plotting its demise.

So this is apparently Easter weekend. Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. What this means for me? Mom’s baked ham. Mmmmmm.

Today is pedi day! I’m so excited because my disco toes now look like they’ve been used up in a back alley and left for dead.

In other news…my flower bed is sprouting! I planted Zinnias, Sweet William, Cosmos, Daisies (duh), Cornflower, and Foxglove. My house should be full of fresh cut flowers this summer. YAY!

So happy happy weekend to all my peeps. <–hurr (see what I did there? Easter? Peeps? Hurr Hurr!) I’ll see you Monday!

Month of Mel 2012: Day 9

Excitement is building for tomorrow night’s Disco Extravaganza! We will be decorating tonight. There will be a sparkly pedicure sometime tomorrow…and possibly the purchase of a white suit for El Jefe. Oh yeah, and then it’s gonna be ON.

Hopefully there will be some quality pictures that I can share with you here next week. If there aren’t, then you know the party was even better than expected.

Y’all have a great weekend! I know I’m going to….

Peace.

I cannot tell a lie

I’m very excited about seeing The Lorax. It was one of my all time favorite Dr. Seuss books, even with it’s doom, gloom, and smog. It was reality wrapped up in tiny furry guy with a giant yellow mustache.

Also, I wanted a Truffula Tree

I mean, who wouldn’t want a tree that looked like Cotton Candy growing in their yard?

Guess who’s never read The Lorax? El Jefe. Guess who’s gonna be reading it very soon? El Jefe.

Heh.

So it’s Monday morning, and I spent the weekend running Rader to soccer, walking, burning stuff, and having beers with Birdrunner. El Jefe and I also took the dogs to the park where they explored the creek and had a very fun time.

Oh! And I washed my car! BlueBelle hasn’t had a bath in a very long time. She looks so much better now.

I’m sure I did other stuff too, but really, who cares? My life is so boring, I’m even putting myself to sleep. Sorry about that.

Hopefully, it won’t stay boring too much longer, because The Month of Mel begins in 3 days….

Are. You. Ready?
