good news; bad news

The good news is, my back is finally almost back to normal! YAY!

The bad news is, I won’t be rockin’ a Hoveround this weekend. Let me show you all the things El Jefe and I had planned to do with the Hoveround:

Go to the moon

Go scuba hover diving

Jousting except with Hoverounds instead of War Birds. (Though we may still do this if we can find some War Birds… How awesome would that be????)

Ride unicorns! Let’s go to Candy Mountain, Charlie!

And last but not least: Finish the damn wars. And then start some new ones.

I know y’all are all happy that my back is better, but aren’t you also slightly disappointed that I won’t be participating in the Hoveround Adventures? I know I am…

Y’all have a great weekend. Not sure I’ll be blogging tomorrow…we’ll see.

more drugs? better drugs?

So I really have nothing fun to say today other than the walker thing is getting closer to reality.

I’m seriously too damn young to be walking around like a MawMaw. Oh well, at least I still have my looks. Hahahahahaha

In other news, I’ll be in Oxford this weekend. Not sure if I’ll be walking around or cruising in a Hoveround, but I’ll be there. If I buzz by you at the speed of light, I’m sorry. It’ll be a new toy and I’ll just wanna go FASTER! Call me Ricky Bobby not MawMaw!

baby got back (pain)

A few years ago I was rearended by a Ford Excursion. I went to the chiropractor a couple days later because of neck pain. Not only did I discover I had whiplash (for realz!) I also found out I had arthritis in my lower back.

I’ve had arthritis in my elbows since 2002 as a result of untreated Lyme’s Disease and the doctor thinks the lower back arthritis is probably from the LD as well. I’ve always had some sorta lower back pain but each year, especially when the seasons changed, my back pain would get worse.

Fast forward to this week.

@#$!@%$%^^^&&&%%$#*&%^)&^&$#@@^&**!

Boy does my back hurt. Like badly. Like, I seriously need a cane to help me get out of bed, especially in the middle of the night.

I feel like an old damn woman this week. I can barely walk, it hurts to bend over, squat, put on my pants! I’ve been eating anti-inflammatories like candy and they aren’t even touching the pain. These are the days I miss Vioxx.

The pain will probably last through the end of the week and slowly start to get better…or maybe I’ll just get used to it? But I can tell you that sitting all day long doesn’t help it. However, I brought my heating pad today, and I can already feel a slight improvement.

If you guys see me using a walker with tennis balls on the legs, you better not be judging me. Because I will gladly suffer the pain to whip your ass with a walker. And I’ll take pics of you getting beaten by an old lady with a walker and I’ll post them on my blog for the world to see. Just sayin’…

pucker up!

1. Those who kiss their partner goodbye each morning live five years longer than those who don’t.

2. Kissing is great for self-esteem. It makes you feel appreciated and helps your state of mind.

3. Kissing burns calories, 2-3 calories a minute and can double your metabolic rate. Research claims that three passionate kisses a day (at least lasting 20 seconds each) will cause you to lose an entire extra pound! It’s time to start that kissing diet!

4. Kissing is a known stress-reliever. Passionate kissing relieves tension, reduces negative energy and produces a sense of well being, lowering your cortisol ‘stress’ hormone.

5. Kissing uses 30 facial muscles and it helps keep the facial muscles tight, preventing baggy cheeks! The tension in the muscles caused by a passionate kiss helps smooth the skin and increases the circulation.

6. Kissing is good for the heart, as it creates an adrenaline which causes your heart to pump more blood around your body.

7. Frequent kissing has scientifically been proven to stabilize cardiovascular activity, decrease blood pressure and cholesterol. Those who kiss quite frequently are less likely to suffer from stomach, bladder and blood infections.

8. During a kiss, natural antibiotics are secreted in the saliva. Also, the saliva contains a type of anesthetic that helps relieve pain.

9. Kissing reduces anxiety and stops the ‘noise’ in your mind. It increases the levels of oxytocin, an extremely calming hormone that produces a feeling of peace.

10. The endorphins produced by kissing are 200 times more powerful than morphine.

Did you kiss anyone this weekend? If so, look at all the good you accomplished!

Weekend Update:
Razorbacks didn’t play this weekend BUT they miraculously were moved up the ranks to #11. (because last weekend’s rankings were pure bollocks and they all know it!)

Friday night El Jefe and I went to see Michael Franti and Spearhead. Great concert! The opening band was a lovely surprise. Tamarama check them out if you’re looking for something new.

I’m thinking I’ll be purchasing their album this week off iTunes. They were infectious dudes and their music is, too.

Hope y’all have a great week and don’t forget to pucker up!

friday will cure what ails ya

I will be singing the Cure song all damn day and I’m okay with that. Earworm u can haz it too!
Tonight, the Michael Franti & Spearhead concert, tomorrow is soccer then Hillcrest Harvestfest, and Sunday is whatever I want it to be.
The highs this weekend are in the 70s so it is seriously going to be the perfect weekend for some outside fun.
Happy Friday y’all! Got big plans?

crazy for you

(ETA: not sure if the video embedding is working. Here’s the direct link.)

This is when I fell in love with Madonna…and Matthew Modine. Have you ever seen the movie Vision Quest? I heart it with the love of 1000 cupids. If you haven’t seen it…put it on your RETRO MUST SEE list. (note to self…buy copy of movie to watch over and over and over)

I heard CRAZY FOR YOU on the radio this morning and knew I had to blog about it. Music is a very powerful thing and can take you back to a moment in time faster than anything else (except for maybe scent…but that’s another blog!) Every time I hear this song I’m transported back to the mid-80s, my first crush, and listening to this song over and over and over again on my TURNTABLE. (shut your mouth. I had a cassette player, but it was easier to be a repeat offender when you played your records.)

Even though I got my heart broken eventually, this song still brings a rush of all the good feelings that comes with falling for someone. And I think I’ll listen to it all day, because that rush is the best high ever.

What are the songs that can take you back?

I heart humpday!

The best part of the week is to come! YAY! Tomorrow is GNO…and we haven’t had one in a couple of weeks. *GASP*

Last night, Rader played da Foozball and he rocked it. Sacked the QB and had a fantastic punt! I tried to video the punt (I DID video the punt) BUT the sun worked against me. So all we could see was THE SUN! IT BLINDS!! and little blips doing blippy things on the field.

I did get a pic of me and my kid after it was all over…

Rader is 1.5 inches taller than me, but yesterday I was wearing 3 inch heeled boots and he didn’t like that I was taller, so he stood on his tiptoes. The pic is technically accurate…but now you know why. LOL

If you’re looking for me Friday night…you can find me watching this dude live:

I love Fridays the most!

these boots were made for awesome

Love Fall is in the air…

At 5:30 this morning, I had my cup of coffee on my screened in porch wearing my gigantic orange sweatshirt and a snuggieeh. And a couple of kittehs and a puggeh. It was 48 degrees.

So guess what? I pulled out my awesome boots that are awesome and I wore them today. Behold the awesome boots that are awesome!

Now, was I ready for summer to be over? Not really. But foozball and boots I’m always ready for. And coffee on the porch wearing a snuggeh, kitteh and puggeh. Can’t really do that in the summer.

Speaking of puggeh and kitteh–check out Ruby and Chicken Nugget.

HAI! I’M A KITTEH!
HAI! I’M A PUGGEH!

Kitty G is still unsure of the puggehness, but she’ll come around.

football, friends, food and fabulousness

The only reason this wasn’t a perfect weekend is because the Razorbacks lost a hard-fought game. A game they pretty much owned until the last quarter. It was exciting all the way down til the last few minutes. I was hoarse by the end of it all.

This was the moment we pulled ahead by ten and I thought we were gonna win the game. I’m not quite sure how the #10 team (us) played the #1 team so well only to drop 5 points in the polls. WTH?

After the game, we went to a local restaurant and sat on the deck to enjoy the sudden fall-like weather. I know it’s actually fall…but usually we don’t get these cool temps until well into October. El Jefe and I ordered calamari, and to my surprise, there were itty-bitty fried squids on the plate; not just calamari rings…

Ok, the little whole squid thing freaked me out a wee bit. Creepy! And of course, I think there is a GIANT MOMMA SQUID exacting her revenge on every fisherman in the sea because her tee-tiny baby squid was fried whole.

This is gonna be a busy week. Rader has football tomorrow night, Ian is off for fall break where he is working like a junkyard dog for his Nonnie, Ian will also be taking baby steps toward learning to drive this week…(shhhh, don’t tell him) and then Friday night will be the Michael Franti and Spearhead concert! I’m doing Bark for Life walk Saturday morning with Ruby and then Rader has soccer Saturday afternoon.

In between all that, I’m thinking we may take a trip to a corn maze…because even though they freak me out a whole lot, I still think it would be kinda fun. 🙂

What’s going on with y’all this week? Anything fun?

WOO PIG SOOIE!

Tomorrow’s game against Abalama is gonna be EPIC.

Shake your booty! The Razorbackses is up in here
!

My friend Marley Gibson is a huge ‘Bama fan. May the text message taunting begin!!!

If you’re looking for me tomorrow, I’ll be at a bar, screaming obscenities at the big screen and sucking down adult beverages like it’s my job.

Y’all have a great weekend. I know I will.
