it is mine to give

Arwen: I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone. I choose a mortal life.
Aragorn: You cannot give me this.
Arwen: It is mine to give to whom I will. Like my heart.Yeah. I know. There are swords and awesome fighting and a creepy eye and wizards and elves and hobbitses in this movie…I also know this scene made my heart stop the first time I saw it.

just as you are

Mark Darcy: I don’t think you’re an idiot at all. I mean, there are elements of the ridiculous about you. Your mother’s pretty interesting. And you really are an appallingly bad public speaker. And, um, you tend to let whatever’s in your head come out of your mouth without much consideration of the consequences… But the thing is, um, what I’m trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances, I like you, very much. Just as you are.

and because I love this movie so much, here’s a bonus quote:

Bridget: Wait a minute… nice boys don’t kiss like that.
Mark Darcy: Oh, yes, they fucking do.

I know; I know. This is pretty much the same thing Harry said to Sally. Sue me. I’m a girl. And the good news is, you like me just as I am. Right? (Lie to me if you have to, I’m okay with that)

Also, who wouldn’t wanna be kissed in the snow wearing nothing but knickers?

Oh Buddy!

Buddy the Elf: I think you’re really beautiful and I feel really warm when I’m around you and my tongue swells up.

I had so much fun with the movie quote yesterday, I’ve decided to post some of my favorites from now until Christmas. Or until I just forget to do it. I’ll be taking bets on which happens first…Christmas or me being too lazy forgetting to do it.

I think I love this quote because it’s amazingly romantic without trying to be. It made my heart swell up the first time I heard it.

You know what else I love about this movie? They sing my favorite wintery song in it!

I don’t know why I love that song so much… but I do. It makes me all tingly on my inside parts. And I actually love this movie. It’s on my holiday must rewatch list. There’s something about Buddy’s naivete and willingness just to go for it that makes me smile.

Hmmmm, what movie will I quote tomorrow?

a monday mel-o-jumble!

Saturday was so pretty and warm, El Jefe and I decided to climb Pinnacle Mountain. I haven’t done this in years…and let me tell you, if I thought my ass hurt after the Death March with Birdrunner on Thursday? Yeah, not-so-much after the climb to the top of Everest Pinnacle. But it was worth it. Check out the view:

After a beautiful day and lovely evening with friends, we woke to frost on Sunday. Bitter, yucky cold. Now, I knew it was coming, but seriously, I just like my warm weather. I’m not a cold weather girl unless there is snow on the ground. And even then, I’m pretty much done with it after two days.

Gimme sun, sand, surf!

In other weekend news, the terrorists kittehs have discovered the red laser. And Kitty G will climb walls to get to it. Hours of entertainment, y’all.

I blogged at Fictionistas today about Holiday music and my lack of Christmas Spirit…but I’m working on it. There is only one song I really wanna hear right now, and here’s my favorite commercial made from that song….

Hope y’all had a good weekend. Not doing my half-marathon training today…but we’ll get back to it tomorrow. I may do my Jillian Michaels DVD tonight, though. That woman can pack a punch in a 20 minute workout. She also scares me a little, so I’m afraid to slack off because I think she knows and can jump out of the TV and yell at me in person.

gobble gobble

Me and the boys are outta here this afternoon.

I’ll be baking pies tonight and a turkey and assorted yummies tomorrow. I can’t wait! I love Thanksgiving. Football, Food, Fun, Friends, and Family. Oh and wine. Lots of wine…

Y’all send El Jefe some good vibes. I’m not sure he’s emotionally ready for the invasion… LOL

Wonder if Rader will help me bake again this year like he has in the past.

talking to your kids about Star Wars…

Fishdog sent me this link this morning and I thought I’d share it with you. Funny stuff right here

I heart Dramady! My favorite part is when the dads all talk about doing whatever it takes to get their kids to hate Jar Jar Binks.

Jar Jar killed Grandma.

Jar Jar kicks puppies.

I also heart the dad who said “I started too late with this one.” Oh for the love of Slo Mo! Awesome stuff.

Happy Thursday, y’all!

book club

Last night I was invited to a local (adult) book club. One of the women works with fishdog, and since he’s still one of my biggest pimps, he’d been talking my books up so her book club chose to read BITE ME! this month.

It’s always so flattering when a book club reads me and then asks me to come for a visit. But it’s also nerve wracking because what if they don’t like the book? And then I’m sitting there facing a group of displeased readers. And WHAT if there is no wine?

Luckily, none of the above happened. They all seemed to genuinely like the book (which is always a plus since it was written for a different age group) and there was plenty of wine, as well as very enjoyable company! Lots of laughing and storytelling and I truly had a great time. Thanks ladies for having me!

In other news, BITE ME! received another fun review this week! 4/5 Stars!

I haz a new hat! (& also a new snuggie…)

Look what was waiting for me when I arrived at El Jefe’s Friday night:awwwww. Somebody likes me!

This was an incredibly sweet gift considering the Razorbacks were actually playing Ole Miss on Saturday…

Oh yes, I thought it was very sweet…until I opened the wrapped present and discovered my brand new Ole Miss Snuggie. Bwahahahahahahahhahahahaha
Now, to be fair, I had this coming. I sorta kinda have been leaving little Razorback trinkets all over his house every time I visit and then I just wait until he finds them. Like when I got the text “I’m drinking my coffee out of my new Razorback mug.” a couple of weeks ago, which I had left in his dishwasher. It’s a game that makes me laugh…until I get something in return, such as an Ole Miss Snuggie.

I suppose it’s okay though…as long as there is never any photographic evidence of me snuggled up in the snuggie…unlike there is of El Jefe, wearing my Razorback hat…

daytime to concert…

Okay, having a day job in an office and working until 5:00 can sometimes put a cramp on your evening style. Because let’s face it, you don’t wanna wear your business casual slacks and top with you hair in a bun to an Alice Cooper/Rob Zombie show. It just wouldn’t be right.

Okay, you might want to, but, I wouldn’t want to…

So that left me with a dilemma this morning. How do I wear my inner Rock Chick on the outside without scaring the folks at my office?

We start off with Black. That’s easy enough. Black is the universal Rock Chick color and it’s also appropriate for the workplace.

But I can’t do my classic black stuff, because it’s just too classy. And then I’ll be the naughty librarian at the concert. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I suppose I could make it work… you know, with some red thigh highs and platforms…oh wait, wrong blog. Hahaha

So I chose a simple black dress that will go off the shoulder after work and is a scoop neck during business house. I belted it and have on my boots.

It’s totally Business Rocker Chic

Now onto the hair. What does a Rocker Chick do? Pony tail? Straighten it? Leave it be?

She curls it…that’s what she does.
Daytime to Rocker Chick ahoy!

I’ll just add a little glitter after work and I think I’m good to go!

monday morning blues

Ruby and I were both very sad leaving Oxford in the wee hours this morning. See how forlorn she is? That’s because she left behind all the chewies that she had gathered up around the house since Thursday. The other dogs only THOUGHT those chewies belonged to them. Ruby let them know that without a doubt, they were only holding the chews for her.

The drive home was an easy one (no traffic and great coffee helped with that) I much prefer driving early than late.

Oxford was great this weekend. Friday night El Jefe grilled up some yummy portabella mushrooms with edamame which went really well with my Zolo Malbec. (I can’t find it in Arkansas, so I try to buy a bottle when I go to Oxford. I don’t think it’s sold west of the Mississippi or something!)

The view at night was lovely. The pool is way too cold to swim in now, but it sure is a fabulous backdrop for a nightcap.

Saturday we went to The Burgundy Room and watched both the Razorbacks beat the Aggies and the South Carolina Gamecocks beat Alabama! (sorry Marley, but that made me very happy) Then Saturday night more grill time with a yummy pork tenderloin with chilis and my very yummy mashed taters.

Oh! And while we were on the balcony of the Burgundy Room, we got to see a chick get arrested! (apparently she was beating on her boyfriend a block or so away. The boyfriend was also arrested.) Isn’t public intoxication awesome?

Sunday: Movies, football, beer, naps. Ahhhhhhhhh. Aren’t Sundays the best?

I hope your weekend was as relaxing and wonderful as mine was! Do anything fun or special?
