Do me a favor, go to FactCheck.org and read the non-partisan facts about both candidates/parties and their rhetoric. Just do it instead of being all Yellow Dog or Tea Bagger.
I’m the biggest liberal on earth but I (probably)would have voted for McCain had he been the nominee instead of Dubya. I didn’t agree with him 100% but…he had a spine. He stood for something and ran on his own platform. But since he didn’t tow the party line, he didn’t get the nom. Sadly, he caved to party demands when he ran against Obama and completely flip-flopped on his core beliefs…and to make matters even worse, he chose that dumbass as a running mate. Talk about shooting himself in the foot. Geez.
Mitt Romney did the same thing, btw. He has completely flipped his switch. Check this out…what he always believed in vs. his current platform. You can’t deny this…since it’s Mitt Romney’s own words.
Here’s Fact Check’s rundown of Ryan’s speech. He’s a liar with a big fat L-I-A-R. The Republican party isn’t even trying to hide the fact they’re lying…they are just running on the belief they think they’re smarter than the people who are voting for them.
Sorry, I try not to talk politics much on this blog, but I have to say, our country is headed in a direction that frightens me as a woman and as an American. I can’t imagine anyone would actually willingly vote for these two guys. Especially anyone with a vagina. These two douches are freaking sketchy and dishonest and they support taking away women’s rights bit-by-bit. Paul Ryan actually had the nerve to call rape another “method of conception” as his justification for denying the right to choose for women and girls who are victims of rape and incest. Before you know it, they’ll be forcing women to marry their rapists because it says so in the bible. (I mean, that’s how they justify everything else, right?)
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. People who blindly follow their party instead of asking questions scare me. Are people really so stupid that they can’t see where this regime will take us if we allow it? Religiously based governments are only good for those in power. And they’re never good for women. Like Obama or not, these two misogynistic assholes are NOT good for the country (unless you’re a white male who makes 7 figures.)
ETA: They REALLY AREN’T hiding the fact that they’re running on lies. Check this out: (from the mouth of a Romney Aide)
“Fact checkers come to this with their own sets of thoughts and beliefs, and we’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers,” he said. The fact-checkers — whose institutional rise has been a feature of the cycle — have “jumped the shark,” he added after the panel.
Damn you FACT checkers for CHECKING THE FACTS and telling everyone we’re liars. But that’s okay because we don’t care. We know there are people blindly following us no matter we say… Fact Checkers. Bah. UGH.
What happened to freedom of choice? (hahahahahaha this one is my favorite.)
Why are we focusing on small issues like this? There are bigger things in this world to worry about.
These are the majority of the arguments I see when it comes down to the Chick-Fil-A protest. Now I can’t answer for anyone but myself, but I’m guessing I’m not the only one who shares this opinion.
(warning, I’ve been fighting a horrid cold since Sunday and right now I’m high on Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold medicine…)
I would argue that our right to protest and Dan Cathy’s opinion both fall under freedom of speech, opinion and choice. This is a free country. Period.
However, I’m not protesting Dan Cathy’s opinion or his religious beliefs. I am protesting a business lobbying and funding millions of dollars against human rights. I don’t care how you feel about homosexuality, I care that we are all human and we all have the same rights. Your religious beliefs have nothing to do with the rights of every single human in this country. NOTHING.
Let me ask you this: If Chick-Fil-A had donated millions of dollars to an active Neo-Nazi/White Supremacist Group or a Anti-Women’s Rights group would you still think that chicken sandwich tasted so damn good?
To me, they are the same thing. Human rights. And it’s okay if you don’t agree with my stance but please don’t kid yourself that supporting Chick-Fil-A isn’t supporting their anti-human rights agenda, because it is. They will gladly take your money and funnel it on to a hate group.
This is about Human Rights. And withholding my $4.00 from them may not do much, but at least I know that I’m not actively supporting hate.
BlueBelle’s fan belt split apart yesterday on the way home from an epic weekend at the lake. So she took a ride.
This is just one more issue to add to her repertoire of late. El Jefe worked his butt off replacing her alternator last week. We’ve had to recharge and jump the battery multiple times, and now the fan belt.
I mean, I know she’s an old gal and these things happen, but do they all have to happen at once?
We had a blast at the weekend. Here’s a link to the photos. There was lots of shenanigans and mayhem.
I would like some of that peace and tranquility back. Also, I would really like for this head cold Jefe and I came home with to go away…
In other news, check this Chick out. This is a very funny and well-informed view of the Chick-fil-a hate message. You go Jackson Pearce. I agree with every word you said.
Kathie Lee and Hoda make my brain hurt. DO.NOT.WANT.
Ditto for Rachael Ray.
I can totally make organic everything, yummy food, plan an imaginary wedding, decorate my imaginary house, and go on a fantasy vacation thanks to a couple of hours spent staring at Pinterest.
I despise everything Mitt Romney stands for and it’s going to be hard to keep my mouth shut. And I probably won’t but I’ll try to only use my Tumblr account to spout off about his moronic, hypocritical politics. The ONLY good thing about this election year is that Sarah Palin isn’t involved. Speaking of morons…/political ranting
I love talking to El Jefe about everything from plotting my stories to spending our lottery winnings.
I wish I could go to work in my pajamas.
I used to find Daniel Tosh funny but after his recent “jokes” about rape, I’ve changed my mind. Rape isn’t funny, kid. Grow up.
Viacom needs to suck it up and give DirecTV customers access to Comedy Central again. This pissing contest is for the birds.
We have high school orientation tonight. Rader is going to attend Catholic High for Boys here in Little Rock next year. It’s a great school academically. Ideologically it is not my preference, but we’ve raised a smart kid who thinks for himself and hopefully will not allow the prep school uniformity change who he is at his core.
This is the kid who wears HeeHaw overalls and “John Daly” pants on purpose. This is the kid who decided to grow his hair out and donate it to Locks of Love on his own. This is the kid who’s best friend is of Pakistani/Indian descent… So yeah, the prep school white-washed “let’s all be the same” thing worries me. However, academically, this is a top notch school and Rader needs to be challenged. He’s so upset with his current Social Studies teacher for just ‘giving up’ by making them do glossary words as crossword puzzles and COLOR. Yes, they have a project where they have to draw and color a scene from a movie. For Social Studies. Really?
Speaking of his hair, check it out:
I asked him today if he was going to wait until school starts to cut it (they are required to have their hair off the collar, above the ears, and above the eyebrows at Catholic). Rader said he might get it cut the last week of school just to freak out all his friends. Heh. No matter when he cuts it, he definitely has enough to make a sizable Locks of Love donation.
In other news, I’m a little riled up over these super conservatives trying to legislate women’s bodies. Georgia passed the “women as livestock bill” yesterday. That title came about after Rep. Terry England (R-Auburn) compared pregnant women carrying stillborn fetuses to the cows and pigs on his farm. According to Rep. England and his warped thought process, if farmers have to “deliver calves, dead or alive,” then a woman carrying a dead fetus, or one not expected to survive, should have to carry it to term. I don’t care what your views on abortion are. I care that men who can think of women as livestock, should not be making laws concerning women. If they are so big on less government, then why are they trying to legislate women’s bodies? That sounds pretty big to me…/political soapbox.
Sorry. I don’t often talk politics here, but this is a huge hot button for me. I’m passionate about HUMAN rights. Period. Mind your own business, stay out of people’s bodies and bedrooms.
The one good thing I can say about the elections? They’re over–which means no more political ads.
Unfortunately, the one ad that should’ve run every 2 minutes, I never saw on TV. Sadly, I have a feeling we’re in for a repeat performance of some of the things discussed in this ad.
It’s too late now, but…in two years, maybe people will remember again.
It’s a huge pet peeve for me. I lost a house, lost my savings, and pretty much lost my marriage due to the housing crash thanks to deregulation. Yeah, I’m a bit bitter about it. But hey, now the GOP is in charge again, so surely EVERYTHING will be just fine. Right?
Hah. This country’s government has completely forgotten it is supposed to work FOR THE PEOPLE. I’m people and trust me, our government stopped working for me when Clinton’s term ended. Obama hasn’t even been given 2 years to fix the mess that it took GW 8 years to get us into. But it’s over now. And all I can say is I’d much rather watch Viagra commercials over hate-filled political ads any day. And I’m off my political soap box. Like I said on Facebook…I’m going to my happy place where there is sunshine, unicorns, and Matt Damon.
I’m discussing this over at Fictionistas as well–the fact that some schools and parents aren’t allowing their children to hear the president’s scheduled speech for the schools. Mostly I’m talking about how parents should trust that they aren’t raising sheep that are so easily swayed (I mean, ‘indoctrinated’) by one speech.
But at this blog? I’m gonna get a little pissy.
Both Reagan and Bush, Sr. addressed the schools in 1986 and in 1991 and nobody said a word. I mean, both of these presidents had questionable happenings at the time (Iran-Contra, anyone? First Gulf War, ring a bell?) and yet people welcomed the chance for their children to hear from their Nation’s Leader.
So why is Obama’s speech different? What on earth are are people afraid of? Are you worried your child might develop some individuality? Maybe have an independent thought? Yes, it’s definitely best that you keep your kid home then. Would hate for the next generation to grow up and think for themselves.
Seriously, the kids are going to sleep during the address. And if they do listen to the president? Good for them. What is so wrong with any message he’s going to give? If you work hard and stay in school, you too, could be president.
Yeah. That’s definitely a message I don’t want my kids hearing. Screw that. No way in hell do I want my kids to grow up and be president. Maybe I’ll keep my kid home, too. What a great idea.
What I find amusing is that if Bush, Jr. would’ve addressed the nation’s schools, and I would’ve refused to allow my kid to listen (wh/ I would never do because it goes against everything I believe in) but if that had happened, I would’ve been called a communist. Or asked why don’t I love my country?
Politics has nothing to do with this, so why are people making it political? He’s our president and it’s an honor for our kids to get a chance to hear him. They don’t know that yet, but it’s true. And this is the perfect opportunity for schools to teach about our nation’s government and for parents to discuss what he talks about with their kids. And if parents don’t agree with his message, then they can discuss why. But to not allow the kids to hear it because it may be something they disagree with is downright small minded. And extremist.
