the big adventure

When Bobcat Greyskull isn’t busy plotting to take over the world, he’s busy plotting to get outside the screened-in-porch.

And occasionally, he succeeds.

Last night, he had himself a BIG adventure. We think he explored the Compound for at least an hour, possibly two. And since he’s gray and very, very sneaky, he was difficult to find in the darkness.

But we found his Achilles Heel last night…

The red dot.

He tried to resist its siren call, but he couldn’t.

His wail of disappointment was strong when the screen door closed, but all we had to do was turn on the red demon and he forgot all about it.

So now he plots his next escape and we must continue to come up with grand ways to capture him. Until next time, BCGS…

I cannot tell a lie

I’m very excited about seeing The Lorax. It was one of my all time favorite Dr. Seuss books, even with it’s doom, gloom, and smog. It was reality wrapped up in tiny furry guy with a giant yellow mustache.

Also, I wanted a Truffula Tree

I mean, who wouldn’t want a tree that looked like Cotton Candy growing in their yard?

Guess who’s never read The Lorax? El Jefe. Guess who’s gonna be reading it very soon? El Jefe.

Heh.

So it’s Monday morning, and I spent the weekend running Rader to soccer, walking, burning stuff, and having beers with Birdrunner. El Jefe and I also took the dogs to the park where they explored the creek and had a very fun time.

Oh! And I washed my car! BlueBelle hasn’t had a bath in a very long time. She looks so much better now.

I’m sure I did other stuff too, but really, who cares? My life is so boring, I’m even putting myself to sleep. Sorry about that.

Hopefully, it won’t stay boring too much longer, because The Month of Mel begins in 3 days….

Are. You. Ready?

Oh. My.

You know how when you make plans and then Karma throws a wrench at you and you can’t dodge it? Sigh. Yeah. (I swear I could dodge a ball, though! I swear it!)

My brakes are grinding to a halt. So today I’ll be spending a half-a-million-billion dollars to have them fixed. You know why? Because I finally had a little padding in my checking account. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS THIS WAY.  Screw you, Karma. I’ve paid my debt plus interest. Go away.

Sorry. I really hate being negative. I hate it. I’m around it all the time at work and sometimes it seeps into my otherwise awesome and sparkly disposition.

Okay, I’m done now. I will not drown in my own pity party. It’s not like it changes things anyway…it just makes me no fun.

And you know, I’m all about the fun. and Sparkle. I need some sparkle. or a sparkler.

In news of the AWESOME variety…El Jefe and I will be sitting in the same room with Mr. Sulu tonight!

That’s right! George Takei in in Little Rock and will be giving a lecture for the Clinton School tonight and I’m totally gonna stalk him! I can’t wait. He’s so awesome.

I guess the silver lining to getting my brakes repaired today is that I get a half-day off to enjoy this beautiful weather. It’s gonna be 80 degree and sunny all day.

Oh. My. Indeed.

that just happened.

See how cute I am in my exercise gear? Even at 5:15 a.m. Yes, that’s before the sun, y’all. Before. The. Sun.

Reluctantly, I got out of bed, but by the end of my 45 minute walk, I felt great. I added some lunges and a few (okay, a lot) of booty shaking into the mix and it was pretty awesome. (I’m so very glad it was Before. The. Sun. so nobody could witness said booty shaking.)

Anyway, yay me! Maybe next time I’ll take Ruby.

BTW: Objects in blog and in Melf’s imagination may appear slightly different in reality…

In other fun news, woo boy my Bachelor recap is up. We have metaphors and euphemisms for days, folks! Go forth and read.

Bachelor Ben Episode 8: The Final Four showdown begins

In other, other fun news, Hey Don’t Judge Me was voted Weblog of the Month. Awesome, huh?

today is FATastic.

Last year’s Mardi Gras party… photobomb courtesy of El Jefe. 🙂

Okay, so tomorrow everybody is going to talk about what they’re giving up for Lent. I don’t do Lent, though by the look of my dryer vent, I do have plenty of lint… That’s a rhyme and now I want a mint…Somebody please stop me before this becomes a detriment…

Ouch. Okay. Sorry.

Anyway, yeah, I don’t give anything up to prove anything to anyone. It ain’t how I roll. Mmmm. I’d really like to eat a buttery roll right now. It is Fat Tuesday after all.

Oh wait. I keep getting off track.

Tomorrow is the start of a new day for me. Now that my health bidness is over, and now that I actually seem to finally be feeling normal (for me anyway) again, I think it’s time to start back down my fitness road. So tomorrow morning, come Hell or highwater…I’m going to hit the trails at 5:15. I figure if I can do two early morning 45 min walk/runs and then fit in two more somewhere during the week, I will be good to go. Birdrunner and I have talked about doing a lunch walk during the week, so maybe we can start that next week. Either way, I miss how I felt when I was exercising and since I no longer have a valid excuse not to, then I guess it’s time I get off my Fat Tuesday Ass and get with it. I ordered a not-so-cheap big booby exercise harness bra today, I probably should get some use out of it. Next on my list, new shoes.

I think Ruby-Doo will really enjoy the early morning jaunts…if I can get her Fat Tuesday Ass out from under the woobie.

here we go again

It’s Monday morning, I’m at my desk but wishing I was still in bed. If you know me at all, this should not surprise you…

We had a fairly uneventful weekend. I mean, other than the heart attack and stroke we had on Friday after paying the vet bill for 2 dogs. Obviously, paying the bill affected them too, as both Ruby and Trinity spent all night in this position:

It was (obviously) very hard work going to the vet. The good news is, Trin Trin is healthy and Ruby-Doo’s skin infection is clearing up.

Saturday I finally regained some of that elusive energy that I’ve spent months trying to find. I’ve been no fun lately, so when I woke up before 8:00 and felt like cleaning, I knew I was getting back on track. I did a little shopping, then came home and scrubbed my bathroom. Sunday, I deloused and defunked the boys’ rooms. Then I took a boiling hot shower in bleach. I may never rid myself of the stench of teenage boy and sweaty feet.

So even though I didn’t get to do anything very exciting, I did accomplish quite a bit. \o/

Are you watching Downton Abbey? OMG I ❤ that show. Last night had me choked up. I’m such a girl.

The Month of Mel is just 10 days away. I’m thinking I should start myself another “to do” list for the year. Give me some fun goals to work toward. Give myself the things I’ve always wanted but have never gotten. Like buy myself a pair of diamond earrings. Get my passport. Go somewhere exotic. Learn to belly dance. Get another tattoo…Should I try for 43 things to do at 43?

Oh and one more thing. Another daffodil popped up over the weekend, so I gave it to one of Baby Bear’s ladies….cool, huh?

eh.

I’m glad it’s Friday. I’ve been feeling a bit contemplative lately, but maybe I’ll bust away from my thoughts long enough to get some stuff done this weekend. We’ll see. It’s weird thinking about having a kid about to graduate high school and one about to start high school. And with all this rain lately? It’s just made me feel blah…not to mention last week’s mandatory rest time… I need some excitement in my life.

Guess I better get to planning something fun.

Hope y’all have a great weekend. It’s supposed to rain again tomorrow. I’m not gonna like, I’m sick of the wet stuff. I need some sunshine.

The Prodigal Blogger Returns

Yeah, I missed you too, but not enough to pull out my computer and let you know. Sorry about that. It’s been a very hectic 10 days and I’ve been exhausted. I was on some awesome pain meds for a few days that probably would have made for some fantastic blogs, but luckily for me, they also made me too tired to try. So I’ve been spared the humiliation of Drugged Blogging and sadly, you’ve been denied the awesome it could have been. Maybe next time.

I did finally get The Bachelor Episode 6 (last week’s episode) recap up Monday and Episode 7 was posted last night, so if you haven’t already, please go read the crazy.

What’s been going on? Well mostly sleeping. I did get out for a margarita last Thursday which was fun, I went Disco Diva Shopping with Robyn for an exclusive (are you on the list?) Studio 54 event coming up in March, it snowed for about 2 hours on Monday and was really pretty until it turned to rain, Rader took the entrance exam at Catholic High, we went to see Safe House which was action packed and awesome, but sadly Ryan Reynolds wore a shirt, and El Jefe and I enjoyed a lovely steak dinner for Valentine’s day. Look at my pretty roses and orchid:

I’m settling back into a groove, and I hope to get back to more regular blogging…because we have the Month of Mel coming up in just two weeks! Are y’all ready?

  • I suddenly want to wear blue eye shadow and tease my bangs. Has anyone seen my Spuds MacKenzie shirt?
  • If you ever really want a single Margarita, but don’t feel like making it yourself or sitting in a restaurant…(aka, getting out of your stretchy pants) I highly recommend the Daily’s Frozen Pouches. Both Pomegranate and Lime are tasty. If you prefer on the rocks style, then you can’t go wrong with Mike’s
  • Today is Wednesday which is my longest day of the week. But it should be a good one, and that makes me happy.
  • The daffodils are confused because it has been such a warm January. They are popping up all over the place and the Crocus have even started to bloom. They want it to be spring already. So do I…
