Do me a favor, go to FactCheck.org and read the non-partisan facts about both candidates/parties and their rhetoric. Just do it instead of being all Yellow Dog or Tea Bagger.
I’m the biggest liberal on earth but I (probably)would have voted for McCain had he been the nominee instead of Dubya. I didn’t agree with him 100% but…he had a spine. He stood for something and ran on his own platform. But since he didn’t tow the party line, he didn’t get the nom. Sadly, he caved to party demands when he ran against Obama and completely flip-flopped on his core beliefs…and to make matters even worse, he chose that dumbass as a running mate. Talk about shooting himself in the foot. Geez.
Mitt Romney did the same thing, btw. He has completely flipped his switch. Check this out…what he always believed in vs. his current platform. You can’t deny this…since it’s Mitt Romney’s own words.
Here’s Fact Check’s rundown of Ryan’s speech. He’s a liar with a big fat L-I-A-R. The Republican party isn’t even trying to hide the fact they’re lying…they are just running on the belief they think they’re smarter than the people who are voting for them.
Sorry, I try not to talk politics much on this blog, but I have to say, our country is headed in a direction that frightens me as a woman and as an American. I can’t imagine anyone would actually willingly vote for these two guys. Especially anyone with a vagina. These two douches are freaking sketchy and dishonest and they support taking away women’s rights bit-by-bit. Paul Ryan actually had the nerve to call rape another “method of conception” as his justification for denying the right to choose for women and girls who are victims of rape and incest. Before you know it, they’ll be forcing women to marry their rapists because it says so in the bible. (I mean, that’s how they justify everything else, right?)
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. People who blindly follow their party instead of asking questions scare me. Are people really so stupid that they can’t see where this regime will take us if we allow it? Religiously based governments are only good for those in power. And they’re never good for women. Like Obama or not, these two misogynistic assholes are NOT good for the country (unless you’re a white male who makes 7 figures.)
ETA: They REALLY AREN’T hiding the fact that they’re running on lies. Check this out: (from the mouth of a Romney Aide)
“Fact checkers come to this with their own sets of thoughts and beliefs, and we’re not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers,” he said. The fact-checkers — whose institutional rise has been a feature of the cycle — have “jumped the shark,” he added after the panel.
Damn you FACT checkers for CHECKING THE FACTS and telling everyone we’re liars. But that’s okay because we don’t care. We know there are people blindly following us no matter we say… Fact Checkers. Bah. UGH.
I tried my first Pinterest recipe last night…and boy was it YUMMY!
We had homemade Mac and Cheese, bacon-wrapped Talapia, and stuffed crab shells. OMG. So freaking good. (FYI, the stuffed crab shells were from the seafood deli in Kroger. On sale for $1.00 each with Kroger card. It was a damn good deal and mighty tasty.) It was the only thing on our plate that I didn’t fix last night. Now Jefe knows why I love watching cooking shows like Top Chef so much. I get ideas and then I CREATE! Cooking…it’s food science!
I can’t wait to get home and eat some more Mac and Cheese. And now that I’ve made the recipe once, I have some ideas on how to tweak it. I used only Half and Half in the recipe and I think I needed to mix it up with milk. It’s very rich…and would be fantastic with lobster, scallops or crabmeat (or all of the above). Next time I’ll probably leave out the Dijon mustard. I didn’t use much, but it was still a pretty strong flavor.
Have you seen PinterestFail.com yet? I love that blog. “Where good intentions go to die.” HAH!
In Itty Bitty Kitteh news…she still has no name…but she is settling in quite nicely.
Ruby is apparently still circling her. Jefe says she’s like a little annoying black shark. I guess new kitty smell is addictive…
and the newest member of the family at Compound de MelJefe…
Now to think of a name. She’s so itty bitty and scrawny I keep thinking EAT A SANDWICH or possibly CATe Moss. haha She was the runt of her litter and has spent the last two weeks at the vet trying to gain a little weight.
Ruby is very excited about having another cat. The cat, however, does not share in Ruby’s joy just yet. Trin-Trin is very curious but cautious. I think Clementine thought she was a squirrel and licked her lips…
yeah, I heard BABY GOT BACK on the radio this morning and I’ve been jammin’ ever since. It’s totally today’s theme song…
Here I am in 2010 doing karaoke to BABY GOT BACK with a couple of my writer friends at the RWA Conference in Orlando. Apparently there is a video out there somewhere…thankfully, I don’t know the location…
Also saw this today and it made me LOLOLOL
to all my friends in Florida, stay safe…and “Outta Sight!”
Ian is taking his driver’s test today. He starts college tomorrow. My treefrog is all-growed-up.
Not only can he vote, he can join the military, & run off and get married without my permission (yeah…but if this happens, I will be killing him so, really this one doesn’t count). And he’s a college boy. Wow.
I’m amazed by both of my boys everyday. I’m proud of the young men they are becoming…and if you do the math, you’ll realize I was obviously child bride and young mom…because there is no way I’m old enough to have boys this age. (which explains why I’m still getting carded) Freshmen! Both of them!
In Feline news, Clementine brought us a present yesterday. I’m very glad it wasn’t a bunny or a chipmunk. About a month ago she brought us a flying squirrel. She probably took it straight out of the air, because she’s hardcore like that.
I love documenting daily life and memories. It’s part of why I still blog. It’s not that what I have to say is important, it’s that it helps me document the little things in my life that will always be important to me.
It’s why I love to take pics. I love documenting things that make me happy. Things that touch my heart. Things that just strike me in that moment. My past is always going to be a part of my present because it defined the person I’ve become. I would never want to erase that from my life. Sure I’ve made mistakes, made bad decisions, fought some demons…but if not for those things, I can’t say I would have turned into the person I am today. And frankly, I like myself.
So the past is important to me, but not as a security blanket. Not for something to cling to. You learn and move on.
But you should never try to erase it.
And now I document my present because I want to always have my memory trail. I want to remember the sweet moments of lounging on the couch with Jefe on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I want to remember the goofy moments that my kids bless me with every day. I want to remember Ruby’s pitiful face when she’s not getting enough attention, or Trin-Trin’s smile when she’s on the bed…because these things are my key to happiness. I take a picture every day because it’s the everyday little things that are worth remembering to me.
I met my BFF from high school at US Pizza for a beverage and to catch up.
I made country fried steak, gravy, and hashbrowns for dinner Saturday night.
I spent more money than I should have at Walmart (big surprise)
I almost went on a killing spree at Walmart (big surprise part deux)
The only thing that saved everyone in Walmart from my bloody wrath was the fact that I didn’t have a gun, machete, or a flamethrower with me. Although I did (briefly) consider going to tools and grabbing something pointy and stabby…the only thing that stopped me is that I would have had to stand back in line for probably another 30 minutes. Also, there would have been lots of blood and probably suicide by cop so I just decided to seethe.
Ian and Ruby make a cute couple.
There was lots of quality time with John Deere on Sunday.
Laundry
Goofing off
Sunday is crack-tv night…True Blood and The Newsroom.
I’m gonna have to start working on my 80s outfit…because on October 9th, I’m gonna be on the floor, row 18 of Verizon Arena…for the JOURNEY, LOVERBOY AND PAT BENATAR concert!
I was a bit of an 80s concert ho… If they came to town, I bought a ticket. I think I’ve seen Ozzy 5 times. I saw Journey my junior year, I saw Loverboy at every river concert they showed up to in the 80s…BUT…I never once got to see Pat Benatar.
And I’m stoked.
So look out Verizon…we’re gonna party like it’s 1986. And you’re gonna like it.
What a difference 4 months (and a couple of haircuts) can make…
Last night El Jefe and I had a houseful of boys. I didn’t cook because Ian and his best friend Ben had gone out to eat with Ben’s parents and because we had plenty of leftovers from Monday night’s awesome pan-roasted chicken.
I love the fact that the boys want to come and hang out at the house, but sometimes it feels really, really crowded. Our house is more like a cottage and with only 1 living room and 1 couch and a dining table…so when we’re watching TV, we are all on top of each other.
But that’s okay for me, I love that they wanna be there–I just wish they didn’t always wanna be right on top of me… haha. I’m very lucky though. How many teenage boys do you know that come to their mom’s room at 10:00 (her bed time) and make sure they give her a hug and a kiss goodnight? Yeah, I’ve got two amazing kids. I’m pretty proud.
Now to get Ian situated to start college next week. Wow. August 2012 is turning out to be a big month for the Francii.
