Your wish is my command.

My birthday twin, Beth, has commanded that I write my weekend recap because she needs some brain candy.

Well, far be it from me to disappoint her.

Though I’m afraid this blog may be more brain fluff than brain candy. Would that make it brain cotton candy? That’s not a bad thing…

OK, first off on Friday, my cousin posted this picture of me to Facebook. HAH! This pic currently graces my mother’s hall wall. My friends say it looks just like me. I disagree. But here, you decide.

hehehehe. I was a cutie. Of course, I cut my bangs the day before this picture was taken, so mom had to take me for an emergency hair cut…that’s why my forehead looks giant. haha I wasn’t quite 3 years old here. And that puppy had seen many better days…

Saturday morning I drove Rader to meet the soccer carpool since his game was 3 hours away. BTW, I don’t like 8:00 on Saturday mornings. However, I decided I’d make the best of being vertical that early so I went to Two Rivers Bridge to walk…only to find out it was closed for a bike race. I decided to go to Pinnacle Mountain and walk the base trail. It was a beautiful cool overcast morning and perfect for a hike.

It was also perfect for the pterodactyl-sized mosquitoes to feed on me til I was too weak to move. They also tried to carry me off to their nest where they were gonna feed me to their young. Holy Crap I have never been swarmed like that before. Was crazy. I did hike 1.5 miles before I called it quits. I also got to see this really giant uprooted tree:

Then I returned to the Compound where El Jefe and I mowed and cleaned up after the last wreck in our yard. You know, where the dude took out my giant forsythia and left half of his front end in my front yard? Yeah, it was finally time to mow, so that shit had to go. I should have made him come back and clean it up. Jerk-wad.

I believe this may have been my last date with John Deere for the season…. I’m gonna miss his sweet rides.

Sunday I made another Pinterest recipe that turned out pretty good. They sure looked pretty and they were definitely tasty. They’ll make a great brunch item for the holidays I think.

They’re pretty much bacon-wrapped quiches. You make them in a muffin tin.

And finally, I spent yesterday hanging with Rader P.  I walked in the morning and then he and I watched a friend of his from Oxford play soccer. Her team won the tournament and ironically, her father works for the same company I used to work for when I lived there. Small world huh? Also check out my kid and how damn cute he is…

after the game, we went to the PartyHood where Robyn grilled us some burgers then we went to the GodFodda’s house and hung out until it was time to go to Rader’s game….It was a good afternoon and a great weekend. And with that, I leave you with this moment of zen.

My friend Bill hanging with Robyn’s three-legged cocker spaniel. Her name is Lovey but I call her Lambchop.

Hope your weekend was as awesome (and less tiring) as mine! Now let’s kick Monday in the ass and sparkle hard today!

oops! I had mail!

Fishdog informed me today that he discovered a glitch in the code of my contact form page…therefore I haven’t received many of your emails! ACK!

So sorry about that. I did respond to all of the ones he found and forwarded to me. I am especially thrilled to report that I got fan mail from Romania! Woohoo! That’s a first!

The biggest question asked was “will there be a third book in the series.” I’m sorry to report that it doesn’t look like it, at this time. But y’all keep spreading your love for the series and who knows what will happen?

I read all of my fan mail and try to respond in a much more timely fashion. I promise. Nothing makes me smile brighter than reading happy notes about something I worked very hard on!

Thanks to all of you! (except for the anonymous ones that thankfully I didn’t have to read due to the glitch…)

In other news… well, it’s Friday. And I’m very glad about it. I think I’ll go to lunch with my college boy and after work, I will take a walk. It’s too pretty to stay inside…

Of course, you know that means it’s gonna rain now, right?

Happy weekend, y’all!

burn baby burn and other stuff

It’s Tuesday. It feels like Monday. Probably because I spent the entire weekend working my ass off. Or at least Sunday & Monday I did…

We’ve been under a burn ban since May, so when Isaac rolled through last week, the ban was officially lifted and I officially got busy.

Sunday afternoon, I stopped by my friend Lori’s house for some lasagna and Bellinis. Yum. And for a little reminiscing… She apparently just put together some old photo albums from our college years and thereafter…. Check out this beauty.

I believe this was the luau we had at our friend Dave’s house. This was actually between babies…I’m pretty sure summer of 96 or 97.  Beautiful, huh? hahahaha

Little-Itty-Bitty is doing well. She’s eating like nobody’s business and starting to do some exploring and playing. She seems to be getting some energy now that she’s fattening up. She is definitely a snuggly Kitty and she adores Jefe.

Hope y’all had a great holiday weekend. I’m exhausted still from all the burnin’ and cooking I did. (I made potato cakes and bacon for breakfast yesterday. Quiche for dinner. (I also did a Quiche on Sunday for some friends and on Saturday, made chili-cheese dip, bacon-ranch crazy bread for the Razorback watch party!) Woo Pig Sooie! It’s time for some football again!

Oh. My. God. Becky.

Look at her butt!

It’s like, so big!

yeah, I heard BABY GOT BACK on the radio this morning and I’ve been jammin’ ever since. It’s totally today’s theme song…

Here I am in 2010 doing karaoke to BABY GOT BACK with a couple of my writer friends at the RWA Conference in Orlando. Apparently there is a video out there somewhere…thankfully, I don’t know the location…

Also saw this today and it made me LOLOLOL

to all my friends in Florida, stay safe…and “Outta Sight!”

Have a great weekend! Stay sexy and sparkle on!

weekend recap

  • There were boys in the house all weekend.
  • It stormed Saturday and I slept late.
  • I met my BFF from high school at US Pizza for a beverage and to catch up.
  • I made country fried steak, gravy, and hashbrowns for dinner Saturday night.

  • I spent more money than I should have at Walmart (big surprise)
  • I almost went on a killing spree at Walmart (big surprise part deux)
  • The only thing that saved everyone in Walmart from my bloody wrath was the fact that I didn’t have a gun, machete, or a flamethrower with me. Although I did (briefly) consider going to tools and grabbing something pointy and stabby…the only thing that stopped me is that I would have had to stand back in line for probably another 30 minutes. Also, there would have been lots of blood and probably suicide by cop so I just decided to seethe.
  • Ian and Ruby make a cute couple.
  • There was lots of quality time with John Deere on Sunday.
  • Laundry
  • Goofing off
  •  Sunday is crack-tv night…True Blood and The Newsroom.
  • And wine was consumed.

 CHEERS!

weekend roundup

I’m not gonna lie to you folks, there was a lot of napping going on this weekend.

Also, I did some sitting outside, with my notebook and computer to work out some plot issues on my current WIP. Yeah, the work-in-progress that was showing no progress because I wasn’t working on it? That’s the one.

Well, I decided to work on it some. I love to write, I love to create, but sometimes it’s like exercising for me. If I don’t do it almost everyday, I start to dread it…I start to feel like I’m not good at it anymore, I totally psych myself out.

The good news is, I had LOTS of plotting help from the girls.

Like the old school pen and ink to paper plotting method I was using? That’s how I roll, baby.  Ruby and Trinity didn’t approve of my Luddite method, but they stuck around to assist me anyway.

Now I just have to keep it up on a daily basis. Y’all don’t let me get distracted by the sparkly things, the squirrels or the internetz…okay?

we just had ourselves a little Journey moment…

Yes, I’m a little bit excited about this:

Journey, Pat Benatar, and Loverboy in concert….

I even wore Rock-n-Roll hair today to celebrate the awesome. (actually, I wore bed-head hair as rock-n-roll hair but whatever.) See y’all at Verizon on October 9!

BTW, Hit Me With Your Best Shot was once upon a time my go to Karaoke song… There is a picture somewhere from a certain bachelorette party with me and my “date” for the night, (we named him Big Bob) “singing” a duet. Of course Big Bob was so full of hot air that he didn’t really sing at all.

Also, Journey has some of my all time favorite songs ever. Good Morning, Girl has always put a smile on my face…even if it is only 1 minute 44 seconds long.

Happy Friday y’all! Get your rock-n-roll hair on and have your own Journey moment this weekend!

to the water!

It’s only Wednesday and all I can think about is Friday, noonish…because I’ll be lake bound with Jefe, the boys, and Robyn and her kids! And we’ve got a couple of other friends joining us Saturday for fun in the sun on a party barge.

I’ve missed going to our lakehouse this year. Our party barge is out of commission, so we haven’t had as much time up there as we’d like. However, this weekend will change all of that.

I predict some or all of these things will occur:

I absolutely can.not.wait.

The below message is intended for one person and one person only. If your name isn’t “Anonymous” you can just skip this…

Dear Anonymous Troll,

I’m sorry you’re so sad and pathetic that you have to keep popping up with little notes to me every few months. I know I’m awesome. I know you aren’t.  I don’t fucking care anymore. Get yourself medicated or go to hell. Or both. And please, if you’re gonna email me or troll my blog…PLEASE learn to spell. You just look like a fucking moron otherwise. Also, it’s been damn near two years…find yourself a life.

Love,
Melf

ETA:
ps: No. I’m not going to ask about anything you tell me to ask about. This is just a desperate ploy for attention and an attempt to play at insecurities that just aren’t there. YOU are not relevant and you need to understand that. I don’t care about the past. I care about the present.. I hope you do find peace someday. Truly. Good luck.

weekend recap

This sums up Saturday:

This sums up Sunday:

And last night I watched the Bachelorette Finale with Robyn and managed to stay awake long enough to write a recap.

Happy Monday y’all. Only 4 more days til I’m at the lake with my friends and the boys having a damn dandy time!

it’s aliiiiiive

Well, I’m back at work anyway. I’m still really tired, but I feel better so that’s something.

And just in time for Friday the 13th. heh.

This poster made me laugh. Usually the Keep Calm memes are kinda lame (except for the Sparkle one) but this one cracked me up.

Actually, this one did too:

Damn right. Like a fucking lady.

Okay, dudes. I’m off to catch up on work and then maybe there will be a happy hour somewhere I can latch onto!

Y’all have a great weekend. And remember, this dude is not your friend:

Actually, you’ll probably want to avoid anyone in a hockey mask today.
